    Air scoop on a Starduster

Kato Saw you on Biplane forum. This is my Kitfox 5 and a couple Acrosports. The is system I came up with is totally contained and will not pressurize the lower cowl. Works pretty good. Is best if you have a horizontal servo.

Redwitch Yes I am familiar with taildraggers! I am flying a Kitfox with a tailwheel and an IO340 on the nose. See pics above. The GP4 will have an IO320 with a few performance mods. If you take a look at the pics I posted you will note that the rudder is a bit larger on top. I did that because...

    IO470 inverted oil

That's kind of what I was thinking. There is a vacuum pump pad that could be the upside down pickup like the Lyc. I was just wondering if anyone had done it before. Not looking for hard core aerobatics, just some "gentleman's aerobatics".

    IO470 inverted oil

Anyone have any experience with/knowledge of an inverted oil system in a Conti IO470? I am aware of the T-34 system, I'm thinking more along the lines of Christen or Raven. Thanks! Jeff

    Kitfox 5

Powered by an IO340 I built myself. 9:1 pistons, Superior cold air sump, electronic ignition and fuel injection, taper fin cylinders, lightened flywheel. WW GA200L STOL prop. Empty weight 1013 lbs. GRT Mini AP w servos on elev and flaperons. Cowl is all custom and made with epoxy resin and S2...

    SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber

Just stumbled across this old thread and holy guacamole! I was a student of Don Roberts 76-79 and remember this aircraft well! I remember the smell of the polyester resin through half of the school building from the cowl construction. Mains were from a Ryan Navion if I remember correctly. The...

T-88 for the”glue”. 😂 Yes on the glass and resin question. Its not too far off but I need it to get warmer. No idea how many hours. It went pretty quick though, I used to scratch build rc planes and this is basically the same but bigger parts. Maybe 18 months to get to its current state.

I reinforced the lower firewall by not cutting the nose gear tunnel notch in the lower firewall crossmember. Also added a double layer of 1/2" ply triangles on the corners under the skin where the engine/gear mounts to the lower fuselage. Merged the GP4 engine mount with the RV6 gear mount...

Thanks for the kind words everyone :) I have recreated the wing in Compufoil and will be cutting the ribs on a cnc router. I figure that will get me a cleaner/truer airfoil than the traced blueprints. Cowl will be similar to a James style used on RVs. Will use individual plenums on the...

Heres a few pics. Panel has a Dynon Skyview, Garmin SL30, GNS 430 and Garmin GMA240. Engine will be a modified IO320. Cold air sump, SDS EFI/FI system. Looking at 3 blade Sensenich ground adjustable cf prop. Made the rudder a little wider at the top to help with crosswinds n such.

I am building a GP4. What do you need? I will tell you if it about retracts, I won't be much help. Mine is a fixed gear taildragger. There is a GP4 group on Yahoo the name is [email protected]

    CNC plywood plane.

Plywood is a composite material. Composites are stronger than the base materials they are composed of. It can be used efficiently. My experience in the "experimental" world has been one of "you can't do that because the certified world frowns on it". I have been toying with this idea since...
