Scale sandwich composite Honda jet build condensed to 14 minutes

If hotwire would cut thru it - wonder what these new fangled personal lasers would do? (see most only do vertical cuts.. but...)

I.C.E. is dead, Long Live I.C.E.

This year alone I have hit 10 birds with my car. (100% not intended! I feel bad when it happens!!!). I constantly hear road traffic from my house (and I have a 1/2 mile long driveway)…. Point is, we as a species have to

    SpinLaunch kinetic throw to orbit

I am pretty certain the original ercoupe was designed to launch similar to this as to minimize runway length to take off... Basically like the old u-control model planes - but when got up to rotational speed the pilot would release the cable... (like the old airports that had no "heading" just...

    10/23 Raptor Video

Think they may change it to Peter-Peter, Peter-Peter, Peter-Peter?

    Engine failure turn back.

So to put ridiculous to the extreme - do an outside loop and an aileron roll at the end.... (given enough altitude and correct wind - I might be able to do it in the chaos... but I would really have to channel my inner Bob Hoover before attempting!!!) I think the KEY to even THINKING about...

    Electric Hybrid

I would love to do an aerobatic electric plane - what is he using for inverted electrical? Is he concerned the electrons will spill out when going inverted? (sorry, not enough coffee this morning and have been working in the shop all night)

    High Idle RPM - 503DCDI

case halfs (top and bottom) - I knew a guy that put too much sealant in and got a air leak. Found by spraying soap solution and turning the engine over by hand. I agree w Marc - rear crankshaft seal has gone bad on me before.

    Insurance?

and the input to the computer program is only as good as the person entering the "data" (difference between data and information is that one is relevant - the other is just numbers....). I went to insure a new (to me) Stits Playboy SA-3A - the broker told me the underwriter REQUIRES 5 hrs of...

    Certificated to experimental

Per my understanding the ONLY way that you get "credit" towards your experimental 51% is option #4 "What if I take a wing apart and use those parts as a pattern to create new parts and then build a wing from them?" as you are making new parts and not "refurbishing" them...

    Certificated to experimental

So all these people making YouTube videos (and getting paid for it) on aviation related videos - are profiting from aviation and *should* have a commercial license - and cannot be done with - say a kitfox as it is experimental?

    Picking a Plane

Oh, and do not forget to calculate in insurance in your budget! My experimentals are 3x the cost to insure (even just liability) than a certified plane!

    Picking a Plane

Define your mission - choose the plane that suits it in your budget... If one plane does not fit every mission you intend flying... that answer is even easier... get multiple planes! ;-)

So I though I would buy some books from the EAA.... silly me

How about brining like minds together to improve the safety and quality of the "sport" that we all enjoy?!? (kinda like the focus of this forum - but with an EAA logo) When I go to the presidents dinners at OSH - I can count on ONE HAND how many times the word "experimental" is used - EAA has...

Green zinc chromate primer as final finish

I am a fan of epoxy (and can tinted to look like zinc chromate - even with a non sheen) - but the KEY is prep - proper surface prep is CLEAN of all debris AND have proper surface - too smooth is actually a bad thing as the epoxy must make a mechanical connection.

    Spark plug anti-sieze

So the magic "goo" must: a) transfer heat appropriately b) transfer electricity appropriately c) allow the threads to hold appropriately (and allow to let go cleanly) d) not go where they are not supposed to e) all of the above

    Spars in a box

RV-12 has what I think you are looking for. I worked with a friend building one and we got the wings fitted just recently.

    Mike makes parts

great simple idea! Suggestion - put a stop (just a small peg to bump up to) can put in different areas (so 1 1/16 and 1 1/8 can be an inch or so apart down the recent rip edge) of course they should be flush with the TOP of your piece that you are ripping so you do not trip up your saw.
