    Zenith CH750 build...

For comparison, here's my buddies plane parked in the lot next to mine after that mess of rain, snow and sleet we got!!! Wouldn't want that load off back of the wing sitting on my flaperon!!! Hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas and New Year!!! Mark

Couple of shots of the "BB" in it's nest... nice and cozy! :)

    Zenith CH750 build...

I used the "ratchet" method to put it on, only choice I had, but because it's so tight, it had to go at a weird angle (sorry no photo of the ratchet, just a large 1/2 drive one) and it took two of us to force it up. It basically chewed up the retaining tube!!! :( That tube is 4130 steel, so I...

    Zenith CH750 build...

Inspected the nose gear channel too, nothing wrong with it. I thought for sure there would be something amiss in there with all the crap landings I did, but it's holding up fine. Seems I was worried for nothing. New bungee going in... this was NOT fun! :mad2:

    Zenith CH750 build...

Had to take the nose gear off anyways to get the bungee in behind it so I took it right out for inspection. The nose gear always made me nervous. No issues though, even after some pretty "sporting" landings, trying to master the STOL. It held up well... Just some paint issues where the...

:( Bungee tool won't fit on my setup, too much junk in the way, including the Mags, and the throttle linkage... Here's the tool... waste of money in my case, but I'll see if I can mod it somehow...

    Zenith CH750 build...

Thought I would do a quick update! I managed to keep flying up until about a week ago!!! That was pretty sweet, but then it rained and it froze, then it snowed. What a mess!! :( Luckily I borrowed a buddies hangar until next year when I will build my own. I did manage to change out the...

Works pretty well! Another bulkhead. Lots of cutting to come!

Double checking the template, you have to make sure you make the forms on the proper lines. Started to trace. Used a ruler where I could but most of it is free-hand. Needless to say, took a while and really sucks, but it's not something you want to rush.

Taiser's Hummel H5 Build... Yes I'm at it again...!

Tapped up the sheets big enough to cover the bulkhead patterns. Need something smooth tipped to trace with. Rear end of a small brush seems to fit the bill.

Taiser's Hummel H5 Build... Yes I'm at it again...!

This section of plans is about 8' long!!! It's a page designed to be cut out and used as templates... don't like that idea, so... Bought some carbon paper...

Taiser's Hummel H5 Build... Yes I'm at it again...!

Beam going together. Nice and straight. Done! Rock solid, kinda heavy and it's white to boot so will be easy to make marks on. I'll trim it once I start assembling the bulkheads.

Taiser's Hummel H5 Build... Yes I'm at it again...!

Starting off pretty simply. I bought a 4x8 foot sheet of 3/4" plywood for the forms. I also need to make a beam for the fuselage jig. I couldn't find anything to straight so I bought some particle board strips. Couldn't find any 12' so I wound up getting some 16' long ones. They will stay...

Taiser's Hummel H5 Build... Yes I'm at it again...!

Well... I finally started working on my H5 build. Started a bit later than I thought because the weather is holding out here and I'm still flying my 750 STOL! I think this will be the last week-end though. Getting to the point where I have to start pre-heating it, and that is just a PITA to...

    general questions about aviation insurance

I know that Gyro insurance, at least here in Canada was/is insane so I skipped getting a Gyro, for now... instruction is hard to find too but there seem to be a few more places offering it. You'd think these things would be cheap to insure but for some reason it's not... :(

    Zenith CH750 build...

Changed the oil last week, just went to a lighter weight multi-oil (20w50) for the colder fall days. The bungee seemed fine on the right side, where I inspect it through the oil stick hatch. When I popped the cowl off, I noticed this happening to my Bungee! :mad2: I never trusted this...

    Firewall! SS or Titanium?

That was an interesting tid-bit. Still thinking about it as well as the control rods as well and maybe the rudder pedals. Trying to make this as light as possible but maybe I'm going too far LOL. My 750 STOL is heavy so I'm trying to make this build a bit more "unique" titanium parts, flush...

    Firewall! SS or Titanium?

Starting to stockpile and scrounge for metals for my Hummel H5 build this winter (Build thread will be started when I actually get going! :) ) and am thinking of titanium for the firewall instead of SS. Price isn't that bad from what I can see for the size I need (firewall is pretty small on...
