    control stick idea

Hey - thanks for all the input!! Guess I better read Stick And Rudder and maybe buy a good rudder pedal set for a flight sim package. :gig:

    Bede 4 Bonded Wing

Something that appears to work well when 150 grit sanding to get "tooth" (and of course wipe with acetone) Now available at Menards, it is King Kaulk ALL-IN-ONE Adhesive, Caulk, Sealant. It must have some thickness to withstand peal and tensile, the dimple for a flush rivet is just right as a...

    control stick idea

As a new pilot I have problems with stick/rudder pedal coordination. How about making a horizontal wheel on the top of the stick that works the rudder? More intuitive for pointing the plane and great for those in wheelchair. Would control forces be too high?

    Lifting body discussion

gtx09 My error, I meant Barnabys FMX designs. In looking at my seminar notes we discussed overall efficiency improvement ideas. Barnaby mentioned wing tips can produce about 5% improvements due to reduced tip vortices's. Span extension is superior to winglets, the idea is to sweep...

    Lifting body discussion

gtex09 Great work! I attended Barnabys seminar at AirVenture 2010 of the MKX designs. One thing he did was to check airflow disruption on scale models by coating a section with material that flows but remains adhered to the plane to make visualization easier - artists powered tempura paint...

Considering a Rotary conversion, need help

See Aircraft Rotary Engine News Letter for discussion of rotary engines in aircraft. Lots of good info and answers to questions. Buy moderators book How To Cool Your Wankel for tips on oil and coolant system design. I am looking to build a single rotor for LSA. The goal is 130hp and 140lbs...

    Low aspect ratio ultralight

Bart, How much radius? The FacetMobile is made from flat panels, so a .25" radius should be relatively easy. to as large as you want if joining panels with a third corner piece. The video looks to me like what the FMX-5 would be. That is one BIG RC plane! If it's broke - REDESIGN IT;) Dan

Cheap aircraft are simply impossible? :(

Well, cheap is a relative thing. Attended Barnabys' forum at AirVenture this year. He showed that a 150 was price comparable to a Caddy in the 70's. Today, planes are about 3 times more expensive. He then went on to show how to reduce costs, and came up with the FacetMobile design...

    Slow delta wings?

So far no luck for light weight engine/psru/prop designs. My goal is for 130hp and 140lbs wet engine and PSRU. Anyone know of an assembly fitting this requirement? I think possible using (mostly) existing parts. Comments? Dan

    lifting body design

Starman, Not practical for this design, at least IMHO. Did you post that you had a info source for the FacetMobile aerodynamics? Please list as I am very interested in building an LSA version. Dan

    Low aspect ratio ultralight

Starman, Where did you find the analysis and explaination of the FacetMobile aerodynamics? Want to build this design as my next plane. Dan

    lifting body design

Went to Barnabys' forum about the FacetMobile at AirVenture 2010. Very compelling reasons to have this type of design ie simple and fast to build flat panel construction, low part count, light weight gives higher usefull load, low stall speed is safer than std wing plane. The newest design...
