    Pilot emergency parachute survey

I remember what Wes told me back in 2015 when I considered using my old Security 250 in my Acroduster 2. Being 70 years old at the time and over 200# he said someting like, "You will hit the ground like a 200# sack of coal thrown off a 100 mph train". That was enough for me and I sold the rig...

    Budd Davissons Pitts Training

When I went to insure the Acroduster 2 in 2015 the my agent sent an email, "When did you last fly a Pitts?". Answer, 38 years ago, They wanted 2 hours dual and 10 full stops in a S2 Pitts.. I flew with Bill Finnigan in his S2C. It was $365/hour plus gas. I got a nice red hat. I call it my...

    Budd Davissons Pitts Training

I use to carry a brick in my S1C. If engine quit throw it out and follow it down. ;-) My Pitts check out way back when was, strap in and push throttle forward. I already had 250 hours in taildraggers but it was still a trip. My first 50 landings were on grass which helped. Congrats, Budd is...

FAA: Non-commercial Aircraft Registration Period to be 7 years (up from 3 today)

I sold my Tu-holer almost a year ago and it's still in my name. New owner said his other plane also took over a year. That's likely why they are going to 7 years------no one @ FAA wants to work.

Could the Working Class Afford a P-51?

Back in the late 70's I almost bought a complete but apart T6 for $3500. Then a flying BT13 for $6500. ( could have purchased the Catch 22 B25 camera ship for $7000 but that doesn't really count) Both of us had good jobs but if I had gotten I into any of the above I likely would not have been...

    Lost Operating Limitations

My experience was this. The engine, IO320B1A, on my Acroduster 2 went south. I aquired a O290G which I converted to a O320, added Bendix FI etc ending up with what I called a O290/IO320 frankengine. I was told by the Baltimore FSDO that the install of another IO320 was NOT a major change. BUT...

What's been your most terrifying experience in flying?

Many years ago. My wife Marcia and I were trying to get to Ohio from APG Flying Club, Md. in a T41B (Hawk XP). Weather had been bad for several days and we had already lost 3 days waiting. Because of forcast we decided to try for part way to Martinsburg, WV and wait for front to go by...

Wooden spar Sonerai 2 - any memories?

Mine was ok but at sometime I think it was over polished through the alclad and it was almost impossible to keep bright. It would start turning white as you left a spot.

Wooden spar Sonerai 2 - any memories?

My C120 was stock bare AL/maroon/silver wings. Dave offered me a ride but it was a little tight even though I was only 145# back then. I seem to recall that Dave might have passed on and the airplane sat for a long time....don't know it's end or if it might have survived?

Conversion to 3rd wheeh on right end.

Thank you very much. What I figured. I didn't see any provision for moving gear. It's nice as is for someone else.... Thanks again. Jack
