Thoughts on an all metal Jodel D9, Falconar F10 or Druine Turbulent Derivative? For Taller pilots!

The Turbulent is a wonderful aeroplane but quite limited in useful load and the cockpit is fairly small. That said if you can't fit in it (width-wise especially) you'll most likely be over-gross anyway. I think the Merlin V-twin or O-100 would put you the wrong side of VNE if you weren't...

    Wag Aero wing plans

The wings will be slightly different, I think the Vagabond and Clipper wings are pretty much the same, and maybe the Colt too (less sure about that) but the Pacer wings are different. The ailerons are shorter to make room for the flaps and the fixed section of trailing edge inboard of the flaps...

    Naming Your Mags

I know the Tiger Moth is set up with the front switch controlling the impulse mag. That's the starboard mag on a Gipsy Major. As for which is left and which is right, I'd go with whatever the engine manual says should be left or right.

    Lets talk about diesels.

Might be wrong, but I thought Weslake or Dair became the Gemini? Not sure where I got that from.

what ignition systems are people using for VW engines?

Absolutely. Swung a Turb earlier today and it started second blade. Very good system.

    Lets talk about diesels.

I haven't read each post exhaustively but I haven't seen Wilksch mentioned. 125hp and the factory quote 290lbs wet installed weight with a C/s prop. This is a ground-up aero engine. 2-stroke inverted 3 cyl with piston-ported inlet and poppet exhaust valves. Everything mechanical on this engine...

what ignition systems are people using for VW engines?

My flying club has 5x Turbulents on the fleet, all with Leburg systems. They used to have Lucas SR4 magnetos, but were changed a number of years ago due to reliability issues and difficulties starting. The Leburg is great for easy starting and very reliable if looked after and operated properly...

    V12 Alternatives

The RED engine has interested me. I know they flew one in a Yak-52, and it's supposed to be used in the new Yak-152.

another Autoflight gearbox failure - this time after 34 hrs

Assuming it's not the same incident, but we had a Titan Mustang go down in the UK last week following engine failure. I believe that aircraft had a Suzuki engine. No idea behind the number of hours or the cause of the engine failure...

Aftermarket liquid cooled cylinders for Lycoming engines

Strangely I was looking at these engines today! There doesn't seem to be much on the website in terms of concrete info beyond power and the fact they are "lighter." Although the 2020 Kitplanes engine buyer's guide does have a little bit more info on them. Someone posted a while back asking if...

new engine supplier: based on suzuki engines

I've been following Aeromomentum for a while, and generally I've been really impressed! I notice the website makes mention of a couple of new engines, the AM20 and AM24. Where are they in development, and when is there likely to be more info released? I'm also interested to hear about progress...

    Walter Engines

I believe they've been building them recently for the FK-131 Jungmann replicas. PARMA - TECHNIK, s.r.o. - výroba leteckých motorů This is the website. There's far more information on there under the Czech version than the English. Google translate is a wonderful thing! As for distributors etc...

    M14D engine

There's a brochure on the Motorstar website for it. The Huosai 6 in the Nanchang is still geared and supercharged, just not to the same degree as the M14P. It's basically a Chinese licence-built Ivchenko AI-14. The only strange thing is the weight for the M14D in the brochure is the same as for...

Modern Aircooled 4-Cylinder Aircraft Engine Using Contemporary Engine Technology

I wouldn’t be too surprised if Dynon or Vashon has something to do with this. Edit: just read some of the previous comments, seems I’m a couple of years behind the game here!

    Rotax 912is for $35,000???

Assuming the engines in Indonesia do exist one wonders where they're from. Over the last few years there have been dozens (literally) of Rotax engines stolen in the UK. People would break into the hangar and remove the engine from the front of the aircraft. I know one strip had 6 engines stolen...

Why are Franklin the only sleeved cylinders?

Franklins are an engine that's always interested me. Hadn't ever heard of a 6a4-150 in a Cessna before but I've heard good things about the 6a-350 converstions, from those who know and understand them. I did come across this page the other day. This company does a similar cylinder for Lycoming...
