Massive air attacks in Montana ( Lolo Creek ) !

my thoughts exactly. how about a parasail system of gaggled waterbombers towed by a helicopter thingy of future development or existing design that would deliver a radio controlled bombload, perhaps even controlled close to the fireline? upwind i'm suspecting. one load after the other in rapid...

Massive air attacks in Montana ( Lolo Creek ) !

more crazies. the big bag of retardant and chute is winched to the drop zone by a ground crew tow cable upwind of the fire...ie in the burned out zone. no planes at all. don't ask me how to get to get the supressant downwind, but it could be miles away. always downwind. the bag would stop...

Massive air attacks in Montana ( Lolo Creek ) !

here's a wild and crazy idea. big bags of fire retardant dropped by remote controlled parachute. pinpoint accuracy. the chutes are recovered for reuse. a phalanx of chutes towed by massive helicopter thingy. huh??? daveed

    Rutan Ski-gull

autoreply..ski gull fits in the garage according to rutan. a craft like this need not be trailerable or even garageable imho, and the outer panels come off. tractor props to be mounted on each rudder, above the fray. and one on each wingtip, for yaw on water. . b berson. this should take...

    Rutan Ski-gull

let's out rutan rutan. he likes the boomerang. that could be the planform. my symetrical brainbag like a p38 setup. one more structure. wing panels of 15' and 5' times two=40'. center cab for main floatation, outer booms for skis and motor and steady state floatation. use the ic-gen-propmotor...

The new Ford 1.0 liter eco-boost engine

autoreply.. in your #4 post above... what is the max torque rpm, and the h.p. at this rpm. it is 125hp at 10,000rpm. add a psru. add a second bikle engine. 250 horses we now have, at 180 lbs. now add the i.c. /gen/prop motor weight. what do we have in the data crunching results? and what would...

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

dana, at one time i brought up that idea, war emergency power, as a function of overpowering these bldc motors and this concept has been discussed and verified, pretty much. i am looking for some comment is an unanswered question of mine as i am not versed in quantifying possibillites. it the...

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

what about the idea of using a totally duplicate system of motorbikle engines, two engines, gens, and propmotors and eliminating batteries. you've now got a fine system of fail safe. now throw in a minute or two of batteries, and you've got massive power for a minute or two for takeoff, landing...

    Bill Husa (Orion)

Orion was my HBA north star. El Ultimo. Can anyone post a better copy of his parody airplane moniker so I can frame it as a reminder of his steadfast guidance on my project. Also, perhaps, a foto and a brief bio would be nice.My eyes are tearing even now. Daveed'

    Magnetic reduction gear

oops, as a politician could say. My response was to berridos in a different thread. It is out of order here but still entirely appropriate to this thread. And the heat factor is not an issue here, either, I hope. Aircar.. could you dream of an airplane without all those car parts? Daveed'

    Magnetic reduction gear

berridos...that is exactly what the 'hybrid IC,generator, motor' thread is about. In effect, most of that thread uses permanent magnets to yield an outstanding and currently available capacity to have a new level of high performance airplanes at a new understanding of low cost. Low cost and...

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

so why dosen't this thread show up in the 'New Post' file? Daveed'

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

For what it's worth, this title 're:hybrid power:ic engine to gen to propmotor ' has not been showing up in the 'new post' column for some time , so that the title is not being purviewed by the HBA audience. If we want to see some fruition in this supersaturated avenue of possible...

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

How small could a 50 h.p.BLDC motor/generator (brushless direct current) get if it were cooled to superconductivity, and what might be the warmest temp at which that might happen. I'm trying to get a feel for how little this setup might weigh. Omit any weight for the cooling. thanks....daveed'

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

on first line, the liquid fuel is a liquified gas used for fuel.just kidding about the gold, aluminum comes first to mind. second last line... a double tapered pipe for main spar and fuel tank. sorry the typos. i was kinda excited last nite and didn't proof read. daveed'

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

on the other hand i remember, a liquid goes to the bottom of a vessel. a gas goes everywhere good to the last drop. but first, you put liquid fuel in first, then pressurize the whole vessel made out of pressurized pipes that are essentially tied together, for example. the main wing spar...

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

ok. somehow, use a very cold fuel, somehow but i can't think of a good one. do i need help? daveed'
  18. D

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

what if the whole design was ordered by coldness, not hot. the coldness shrinks the size of the generator and the propmotor. now we have gens and motors that weigh ounces. the elec conductors (wires) might weigh more. ok, then. generate coldness to lighten propulsion weight. home run? daveed'

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

and it also occured to me that there are only a few users of gasoline. cars, small trucks, motorbikles, small airplanes, lawnmowers, weedwackers, some others. but in the overall scheme of things, not so much else. virtually all the other ic engines use ...lets just call it kerosine and...

Hybrid Power: IC engine to generator to motor

is this working? back to the concept of cooling icgen and propmotors, what if liquid hydrogen was your fuel and the cold hydrogen could cool the coils. what would the motor weights be then? daveed'
