    Redrive prop hub face runout

Thanks. Although I am told it has not, I am told "up the grapevine" that the engine did have a prop strike some time ago. Am I correct in thinking that a prop strike on an engine using a belt redrive is not so critical.. as the belt absorbs some of the "shock"?

    Redrive prop hub face runout

Can anyone advise an acceptable level of run out (fore and aft) on a redrive prop hub face? Is 2.5 thou at a 2" radius acceptable. or could that indicate a past prop strike?

    Lightest Fabric Covering

If it is of any help, I have previously covered the fuselage of an Ultralight type with 1oz ripstop NYLON.... sold for covering Kites. Very thin.. almost transparent. After many trials with manufacturers recommended adhesives... most of which failed after a few months, I found that "good ole...

    small single rotor aero engine

The XF40 are being advertised for aircraft use... They have been used in the UK for both our SSDR category (FAR103) and Paramotors. However, I believe they have "fallen out of favour" 1 problem being waste heat... for example the kart version's exhaust runs "cherry red"...

    503 DCDI electric start

As far as I am aware there never was an M3 starter, maybe it is an M4?, which was especially developed in the 90s by Mainair in order for them to fit electric start into a reduced space on their machines. Rotax 2 stroke starters all use the Bendix system, as I believe does the GPL starter Quote...

    503 DCDI electric start

No such complex things as a sprag clutch... leave those problems to the 912 lads:-) I fly a scruffy old SSDR Shadow.

    503 DCDI electric start

Thanks, but yes, it is the standard Rotax Mag end Bendix type, not pre engaged, and I had thought of that hooked up a wee video camera... bendix clears:-(.... had same problem with the squeezy bulbs then fitted bypass so that "when" the valves fail, fuel is still drawn around bypass. only...

    503 DCDI electric start

Not actually measured the turnover speed, but it is certainly much faster than the "old bit of string" system. It does fire almost straight away, but then almost immediately dies ................... interestingly it does not seem to suffer this problem when "hand swung", when I suspect it is...

    503 DCDI electric start

Hi Wonder if anyone has experienced this? 503DCDI, pull start... for some 10 years... ALWAYS started 3rd pull on the string, no matter what the weather. Converted to electric start (using 582 mag end starter) now.. tuns over at "high revs like a good un"... but reluctant to start.. no matter...

Wiring a "dead drain" battery electrical system

I you use a relay instead of a mechanical system, ensure that it is rated for continuous use and rated for maximum current. The operating coil in any other type can overheat. You may find this list of measured starter cranking currents etc from the aerolithium site, useful.. PISTON...

What size of the Rotax 503 cooling fan belt is?

I believe some 503s use a "67" section and others a "7" section belt... that could explain why it is too tight The belt I have been using for some years on my 503DCDI is 10x6x610 Mutsubuishi I believe it is used as the Suzuki Cappuccino alternator belt and a number of ride on mowers In the UK...

    Current Limiter In Starter Circuit

As suggested contactors, although requiring manual intervention, probably best. If you go down the simple fuse route, and are not aware, auto "Mega fuses" and insulated holders are available in sizes from 60 to 500 amps. You may find this info on starter currents from the Aero Lithium site of...

    DIY gauges??
