    Wooden Box spar sealing?

Hi everyone, I'm working on a wooden wing that uses an open box rear spar (1/2 X 1/2 spruce caps with 1/16 ply face). I'd like to put a ply skin on the front side to make it a full box spar. Do I need to varnish the inside before closing it up? thanks. James T

How do you build wood wings in a very humid environment?

Hi everyone...well, i'm back in the states (from Afghanistan), and it's really good to be home. My question (about humidity) is will it effect the gluing process much? i like the idea about the box and light bulbs right before the varnish goes on. Thanks, jt

Hi DJ, greetings from afghanistan! i'm looking into buying a GN-1 kit that has already been started. I noticed you have a half door on the right front cockpit? is that a mod? or is it standard on the GN-1 plans. Nice looking plane!!!

    Longivity of wooden aircraft

Hi again Autodidact~ I was thinking about those heads on my TEC engine the other day, and recall a sheet metal 'scoop' that the builder made. It starts on the top front of the head fins, and follows the fins back and then down. Looks like a good way to get cooling air to 'hug' the heads...

Hi GHvizdak, I recently bought a minimax with the TEC engine on it. the hobbs meter says 300+ on it, but i have not yet to start it (i left for Afghanistan shortly after purchasing the plane). I do know I'm not getting any spark, and probably have to exchange the magneto for a rebuilt one...

    Longivity of wooden aircraft

Hi Autodidact, I am not very familar with the engine that came with my minimax...i just know it's not a 2 stroke. and the price was right...It was advertised in barnstormers back in july for 3500, and i got it for 2700. So, i'm very pleased with it. the tach says 300 hours. I really...

Briggs and Stratton industrial engine conversion

Re: Brigga and Stratton industrial engine conversion Hi, i've read up on this type of conversion...the folks at Culver Props, have what they call the 'Big Twin' and it's a 990cc generac engine (v twin). puts out 40hp, and it's lighter than the B&S. Valley Engineering - Big Twin
