Hey guys check out my aviation blog. I'm trying to figure out how to get it exposed, but can't think of how...just check it out....bookmark it if you will.

    Is 26 hours too long

Well, my problem is landings. I just can't get them right for whatever reason. And my CFI has been busy lately so I've had a "substitute"

    Is 26 hours too long

I currently have 26 hrs in my logbook...and I still haven't soloed. I only get to fly about once a week. Is something wrong here? I just got off the phone with my grandfather, a former Chinook pilot in Vietnam and a former pilot for Wisconsin Air flying Twin Otters and Dc6's...he said that 26...

Looking for articles on basic design ideas/principles....

I'm planning on getting books, but money is tightish...internet sources is what I need, haha. Like, I want info on why one airfoil is used over another, or why a v tail is used over a T tail or why Cessna's have high wing, and a similar Beech or Pier doesn't. Or what makes a plane able to do...

Looking for articles on basic design ideas/principles....

But cannot find any, even through Google. I find stuff that's too basic about stuff you learn in your first hour of ground school. I want something that tell you how to attain certain goals in design, and why some planes have certain features, while others don't, and how some aircraft can do...

    POH'S/SERVICE MANUALS

Still doesn't turn up good results. Only the pdfs I was getting anyway

    POH'S/SERVICE MANUALS

I'm currently in A&P school and they're constantly telling us, "Read service manuals and POH's. They will make your jobs 100 times easier" So where can you find them? Google doesn't turn up good results...is there anywhere you can get POH's and or Service/Maintenance manuals for planes. I'm...

    Aerobatic/inversion systems of warbirds

So what goes into an engine to make it "aerobatic". What do they do to the fuel and oil systems to make it work? Can a Lycoming aerobatic engine do sustained negative G's? And how do you fly inverted under positive G's.

    Aerobatic/inversion systems of warbirds

In order to do a lot of aerobatics and inverted flight, the engines have to be setup for it so that the engine doesn't suffer fuel/oil starvation. How do warbirds do aerobatics and inverted flight? Are the engines in surviving warbirds modded to have these aerobatic systems, or was the Merlin...

    Certification

So how would it be certified since I' not the manufacturer...
  11. GCD89

    Certification

So a kit plan (where the plane is mostly built by the kit maker) is registered under than manufacturer??
  12. GCD89

    Certification

If you build less that 51% of the aircraft (just assmebling various kit components) would you have to certify it as the kit manufactuer. If I build an RV-4 with me building less that 51% of it (Van's doing most of the work...) would I have to certify it as a Van's? I can only certify as the...

    Certification

But if it's built from plans (and therefore experimental) could I certify it as JIMBO 3000 or anything I wanted? Or would it have to still be called a Pitts...

    Certification

My teacher in A&P school owns a set of plans for a Pitts S-2. Someone in the class asked if you could put composites here or there instead of fabric. My teacher says "no it would change the certification of the plane" But if you build the plane from a set of plans couldn't you modify the design...

    Modern Radials

I'm looking for something common. I know a lot of the older ones are hard to come by or really pricey, so I'm looking for something easy to come by or not astronomical in price
  16. GCD89

    Modern Radials

What kind of modern radials are out there? I want to build a radial powered something (?) but can't get a list on cheap radials...

    New canard designs?

So what performs the function of standard flaps.

Automotive Spark Plugs on Slick Mags

Exactly. You don't know what kind of A&P you had work on your plane. He could've been lazy, he could've did it "his way" instead of the way prescribed in the manual.

    Basics

Thank you :) I also ant a book that explains why certain things are used are used on aircraft and why they work. Why does a baron have this type of wing and a king air has another? Why do some aircraft have certain wing shapes and others don't. Why do some aircraft have t-tails, or inverted...
