    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I’m glad he brought it down in one piece, watching the rate at which oil temps were already rising before he entered the runway and applied power the outcome seemed inevitable.. as far as I remember the model didn’t fly great, neither was an engine run completed with stable temperatures in the...

    Between-the-war aircraft replicas

ohhh in-between war replicas.. you're striking a cord with me ! Can't give up that dream.. I guess it's like giving up smoking Here's the few ideas that keep running in circle in my head while I sleep Main issues is making all of these 2 seaters.. that and money required to build them :)...

Radial engine - cylinder helmets type cowling

I am looking for references regarding engine cowling, more specifically radial, cylinder helmet type of cowling like on the pictures below. I'm looking for information relating the the actual cooling of the cylinders as opposed to aerodynamic drag info. Could I just replicate the cowling bellow...

    New from Tennessee

Nice memories, I started flying powered aircraft in MTSU, had done a glider licence in France before, that helped a lot. Their aviation department was super nice. I couldn't afford to do the whole CPL-IR at the time but I've caught up, now right seat A380... follow your dreams ;)

    Floats CofG

Thanks.. I'm doing a component weight analysis and was wondering about the float's CG so I can integrate it in the whole design. I'm guessing it should be somewhere maybe 1 x beam in front of the step since I expect the forebody to be more sturdy than the afterbody (impact, water loads etc)...

    Floats CofG

Any ideas where common seaplane floats center of gravity is located ? (metal/wood/composite shouldn't really make a difference) I'm talking about the floats on their own, without struts, I'm guessing CG would be about 35-40% length due to heavier forebody.. couldn't find anything in my books...

    Rutan Ski-gull

Well.. taste and colors... it's good not everyone agrees to the same :) I think we're past 1920 now and we should find a way of reducing/removing the unnecessary additions that made an airplane into a waterplane. This to me is sexy : Has the same multi-surface requirements although I will...

    Rutan Ski-gull

I too am not very convinced about Seagull, looks apart, the folded wings position will make for a nervous ride back.. ShockMonkey, here is what I've been toying with some time ago :

    Homebuilt B-17

what's been the slowdown ? airframe + engines seem to have been ready years ago. Is there that much little bits that need to be sorted, was there some technical drawbacks or just build time lacking ? Can't wait to see it in the air !

    Focke Wulf 190 80% Scale

very nice, what makes 15,000ft such a bad altitude to fly at ? Is it engine related ?

2 seat tandem - mid wing spar/cockpit arrangments

thanks, I could figure out the spar on the Yak but I'm more looking for side drawings of the planes with pilot inside.. I see the Cassutt racer has a very interesting spar arrangement too, from what I can see the legs look very flat under the spar to reach the rudder pedals almost on the firewall..

2 seat tandem - mid wing spar/cockpit arrangments

hi, been a while now I've posted here, always keeping an eye though ;) I am toying with the idea of a 2 seat tandem with a mid wing. Playing with drawing arrangements at the moment and trying to figure out a way to have the spar go through the cockpit and not having the legs in the same...

    Macchi M.33 Schematic Drawings

Apparently the M.33 was a nice plane, there is a video of it taking off on youtube.. you can clearly see the hull was overloaded (like most other hydro racers I would agree), however this plane is one of my favorites and I too contemplate the idea of a replica, or at least an "inspired by"...

    Flying Boat or Bust

hi Any update on your work ?

    Really small F8F Bearcat ?

nice idea but maybe a tad small ? I doubt the knee angle will be comfortable, kick the rudder a bit too hard and you loose a foot through the prop ;) head space ? helmet/headset ? Engine heat ?

Horiffic 747 crash at Bagram Airbase

now if the load was loose, I wonder if it came back forward during the nose drop, slaming into the front, CVR will definitely help answer this.. Doubt this would have created damage to the flightdeck though, is it completely above the cargo hold or is there any reduction in cargo hold height...

Horiffic 747 crash at Bagram Airbase

Topaz, I think you could be wrong, only making assumptions here but the left wing drop seems to me part of the high AOA recovery procedure : Full elevator down, use trim if possible, reduce thrust, and if necessary bank to one side, which if it was the Captain flying, to the left makes sense...
