    Renew an expired class rating?

Thanks for the quick responses! Yes, that's what I meant, I am not current on my SEP rating and my last BFR (or European equivalent) was several years ago. The license itself can't expire, and a non-current rating seems to not be a limiting factor according to § 61.75. So at least in theory...

    Renew an expired class rating?

I know this is not a homebuilt-specific question, but I'm sure there are plenty of friendly and knowledgeable people around here that can help me. I've recently moved here from Germany and I have a European PPL-A license (which in itself never expires) with a Single Engine Piston Land rating...

    Fix "stuck" clecos

This being Germany clecos are much harder and more expensive to come by; so two are indeed more expensive and way more of a hassle to get than a bottle of coke. Plus, it's a hobby, minimal results with maximum effort. ;-) The two remaining clecos finally succumbed to WD-40 and well-dosed blows...

    Fix "stuck" clecos

The coke itself didn't help much, but WD-40 seems to be washing some crud from the inside, 2 of the 4 clecos are now unstuck. It's only a problem with the copper 1/8" clecos, the 3/32" silver ones are all fine, even though there's twice as many. Thanks for your help. Oliver

    Fix "stuck" clecos

I hope this hasn't been asked and answered before. I bought new clecos maybe two or three years back and kept them in the basement, an environment which is not too corrosive. Unfortunately, a couple of my 1/8" clecos are stuck now, as in they won't retract all the way back into the body and...

    NACA 6-series airfoil code.

NACA airfoil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The two airfoils you linked to are identical. The subscript is not really necessary since it generally depends on the thickness of the airfoil. 15% airfoils have +/-0,2 laminar bucket range, 18% airfoils +/-0,3. Oliver

    Mech Eng Book

I know this is an old thread, but I needed one with a "books" discussion and Orion throwing in the usual "Peery" and "Bruhn", so this is where the search function led me. I am just finishing my master thesis in aerospace engineering, so Bruhn is 3/4 basic stuff that I already "know", it's the...

    ZODIAC UNSAFE/ GROUNDED?

ASTM prescribes a limit load of +4/-2 g and a safety factor of 1.5 (ultimate +6/-3 g). You can subtract the weight (not mass) of the wings from the load for the static test, but this is not necessarily being done. Basically, the F2245 regulation is just a simplified copy of the FAR-23/CS-23...

    Weight estimation

I know I'm digging up an old thread here, but just a word on the Raymer books: They're very good -- but I think they provide rather conservative numbers, and for me as an aerospace engineer, the Homebuilt book is sometimes too simple and non-scientific. The only real issue is the consistent...
