    Vampyr Flying Wing

It was apparently a poorly thought out 'upgrade' from the simple skid. I don't think Fauvel had anything to do with it. It is not an option in the set of plans on my web site.

    Passive Variable Pitch Propeller

Very similar to the exterior appearance, but not the prop I'm thinking about. I had found descriptions and drawings on the mechanism and it was all air and centrifugal powered. No oil pressure needed.

    Formula-I?

Off topic but here is what I could find for the Kimbrel copy. 70 was Vne so it may be able to fly faster on that much power? 45 was his recommendation for best climb - so likely the best L/D?

    Formula-I?

It is still to be determined if it works at all ;)..........but yes it should be fairly adaptable.

    Formula-I?

Here is the thought process and assumptions used: Started with the known values for the Quickie = top speed, power* at that speed, wing area and best L/D speed. From that I used the cube root rule to calculate the power used at the best L/D speed. This is the first large assumption.* I then...

    Formula-I?

I'll take another look when I get some more free time, but I'm guessing it is a combination of rounding errors between the exponents and knocking off the decimal places to zero. 3G is not the only place where the numbers differ by a few %. I may have used the best L/D speed (90) for the base...

    Formula-I?

One of the questions that has been asked in relation to the power needed to maintain altitude in the turns. IF I set this up right this is what is required for a Quickie based on the numbers in the pilot manual. Looks like we may not have to worry too much about high loads? I 'fudged' the cube...

    DuroMax Power XP35HPE 999cc V-Twin HP testing

    Passive Variable Pitch Propeller

I've been out of Prevagen* for a while now. Maybe someone here can help me find what I just spent about 20 minutes looking for? A couple of years back I ran across a constant speed prop on eBay with an STC for a Cessna 175(I think) that didn't need oil. It was all driven with air and had...

    Boeing joint gaps

If they are attacking Boeing for things beyond their control - like wheels falling off - then yes. Boeing may have their share of real problems but it seems to me that anything that doesn't go perfectly with a flight on a 7 series automatically gets blamed on Boeing by the media. I do agree...

    Boeing joint gaps

I kind of wish the news media could at least figure out the difference between : Design problems Build problems Maintenance/Operational problems How do they expect to educate/inform the public if they cant separate these? Oh, never-mind..........

    Vampyr Flying Wing

There never were any plans. I asked him a couple of years ago if he would reconsider offering them - he declined. Considering the history behind the Vampyre I don't blame him. The 'plans' available on the internet are NOT Pelican plans.

Repairing a small crushed area of plywood leading edge

Keep in mind that a 'D' tube is often a structural member and gluing aluminum is not as simple as it may seem. Look up AC 43.13 page 1-20 for guidance. The proper repair isn't much more involved than a small patch.

    Sandlin Gliders: Builds, mods, flights

I can't answer the knot question directly but the late Bob Hoover thought knowing how to repair a fishing net was useful knowledge. Maybe this is one of those times? https://duckduckgo.com/?q=fish+net+repair+knots&t=newext&atb=v419-1&ia=web

    Universal electronic ignition options?

Question about the GM HEI modules from someone that has almost no practical experience: Would it be possible to use the 5/7 pin units but just wire the 'retard' backwards so it gets turned off with a manual switch? I'm pretty sure this would work with an electrical starter but how about hand...

    fuselage welding

Maybe I've been doing it wrong (?) but the way I was taught* and it has worked for me since I was single digit in age: At the torch turn off the O2 first. No pop but you get some smoke. At the tank turn off the acetylene first. There is a reason we only turn on the ''T' handle a 1/4 turn...
