TSA- Totally Stupid A- (Rhymes with "moles")

Yes and it's only going to get worse, until America wakes up and stops voting for Demopubs or Repubocrats (whatever you want to call them). Vote the crooks out and replace them with Libertarians and Constitutionalists. ‪Ron Paul Speaks Out on TSA Abuse and Foreign Policy‬‏ - YouTube Can...

    Custom Machining Online. Cool!!

I tried eMachineshop and the quotes they gave me were ridiculously high. I think it may have been an error in the software, but this will have to be fixed before I ever consider using them again. A simple 5"x5" piece of 6061 aluminum with a couple holes drilled in it was like $250. Ridiculous in...

    CriCri Ultralight?

If I were you i would just scale the design up until you got the right wing area. You'll need at least 120 sq.ft. of wing area. Cri cri's wing area = 33 sq.ft. 120/33 = 3.64 Square root of 3.64 = 1.9 So scale it up %190 Of course you'll have to redo the aerodynamics/stability analysis...

    Unknown Engine...

Looks like a Teledyne Continental 4A032 to me. If thats what it is, it's not meant for aircraft purposes. I might be interested. Does it run?

look at this 38 hp motor at 23.5 lbs

My thoughts exactly. In fact, to me, converting an engine for homebuilts is just part of the build process. This engine was designed from the ground up for flying, unlike most of the engines people are flying behind in homebuilts. They say not to put it on a manned aircraft because they don't...

    What happened to the Ultravair?

If you want an alternative to the 1/2 VW just use an OMC Cushman 222. Search the forums for the discussion. It's A LOT easier to convert and a bit lighter than the 1/2 VW. Check Ebay from time to time.

    All aluminum ultralight?

I have a set of plans for the ultracruiser and let me tell you they are well worth the money. They are drawn on autocad and are very detailed. Their is also a well established community for that aircraft on the net if you need help with your build.

All this talk of making FAR-103 weight and nobodies mentioned the heaviest piece of every airplane...THE ENGINE The ultracruiser was designed around a 90lb. engine and that doesn't include the propeller(another 5lbs. or so) Just find a lighter engine:)
