Bad slosh sealant in a leaking wet wing

Had a winter engine-out in the mountains because of this. Don't use fuel tank slosh sealer- period. Take the tanks apart and put them back together with Pro-Seal. Or replace them.

special end-of-year offer to HBA for affordable metal and plastic VGs

Thanks for the kind words. Making and selling VGs for nearly two decades has been great since I get to see so many folks make nice improvement to their airplanes and hear their stories along the way.

special end-of-year offer to HBA for affordable metal and plastic VGs

No difference aerodynamically. The shape was wind tunnel tested exhaustively for the Voyager project so that's what we went with since it's the best data we have for creating the highest benefit with lowest drag.

special end-of-year offer to HBA for affordable metal and plastic VGs

Sales of our new metal VGs are going great with many nice comments. As a benefit to this forum, which I've been a member for a long time, I'm offering a 25% discount for our VGs until the end of the year. This makes them *very* affordable. So if you've been wanting to see how they can...

new product announcement: affordable metal VGs

Hey guys, long time member here (and before that RAH etc- yikes) and wanted to let you all know of a new product announcement. === Landshorter VGs are back :) Been making and selling these since 2004 and took a break for a few years but now we're back with really aggressive low pricing...

    Jet-A vs. diesel

What type of chemical do the refineries use to add lubricity to kerosene for auto use?

    RGB# to Paint code??

Went through this for my son's rowing oars US team colors. At least locally the auto paint store wouldn't match. My suggestion is to go to WalMart and tell them you want the code for the closest house paint they have and let them scan it. Then use this information to convert.

park a truck camper near Oakland CA

Dawned on me that I never followed up on this one... in a nutshell...had a great trip to Oakland. For sure an eye opener (lots of drug deals and wacky folks down by where we were training on the estuary). Took some "google shortcuts" that were pretty scary but made it through OK. Isaiah had...

    Interesting Characters in Aviation.

Does Mr. Ebneter still fly his record setting homebuilt regularly?

    Mazda Rotary Engine

A Mazda rotary on a V6 STOL (Bushmaster, Javelin, etc.) is about the biggest bang for the buck in a good performing aircraft that can be built cheaply, cruises reasonably fast, can haul a lot, has a "safety cage" airframe vs aluminum or composite, and can get into most any strip that's out there...

Where does one find an aerospace Engineer to hire

Most projects on here won't want to spend money for DERs nor want to listen to their advice.

    Adventure partners ?

Look at what the trike / ultralight / paramotor /PPC guys do when they get together and fly around a state (Oregon for example) and then have their families and friends chase them in cars so that they can camp together and talk about the fun things they've seen. Ideally you'll have two-seat...

Bob Barrows and his Electric Ultralight Flying Machine

Barrows is the man. Right up there with Rutan, VanGrunsven, Schlitter, Hamilton, and Wilson for living aircraft designers that get things done.

    10/23 Raptor Video

This is excellent Ross and also smart business marketing. It's important to develop a story and get people to emotionally join your story. Regular updates on YouTube and Instagram are the best ways to do this IMO.

    Dynamic Soaring Blows My Mind

Burt Rutan told me that he went out to a dynamic soaring site (probably this one) and that it was the single most impressive thing he has seen in aviation. The speeds these gliders were achieving were terrifying. True story.

Wing Spar - design / bonding pultrusions

Aluminum loves to go to aluminum oxide over time. Don't rely on it for bonding unless you anodize first and even then you have other dissimilar material issues to deal with.

When or how can a certified aircraft engine become "Experimental"? Also, once that happens, can the owner rebuild it themselves?

As a former DAR let me request you put yourself in the FAA's position. There's a certified engine with a known safety issue. Hence the AD. The government doesn't want to be legally, ethically, or politically responsible for allowing this to go on an aircraft because it goes against their...
