    Boeing - Design Issues...

Well we've sure come a long way from Boeing design issues, haven't we?

I need to spend some extra time in IA on my way to OSH this summer.

Thank you for the link. I will henceforth cease noodling in Illinois.

    Wing spar sizing

@oriol you've put a lot out here for discussion. Others will be able to address things more capably and completely than me, but here are a few thoughts. Does it? It seems the trade-offs are in the eye of the beholder, the design requirements, and materials selected. Yes, you need to resolve...

    Inherent, quiet?

They are the keepers of our unalienable rights, after all. Also they have solved the problem of silent flight.

Good-News Study On Airport Lead Exposure Kept Under Wraps

First, I did not cite any law in an effort to justify any position. Those links are discussions of the evolution of law regarding airspace rights and legal opinions about them. I would encourage you (and all pilots, really) to read them. The situation described is not entirely in favor of the...

Good-News Study On Airport Lead Exposure Kept Under Wraps

There is a good overview of the history of airspace ownership controversies in the US here. It's a must-read if you're interested in the subject of noise. Also worth reading is the WI supreme court decision in Brenner v. New Richmond. One interesting point in Brenner is that the court...

Good-News Study On Airport Lead Exposure Kept Under Wraps

Most of the harmful (if not plainly illegal) elements of the bill I mentioned in the last post were removed by amendment in committee, but the assault on the airport continues. https://www.avweb.com/aviation-news/suit-launched-to-halt-touch-and-goes-at-jeffco/

    Concepts only: Doodles without numbers

I think I still have my Rapidographs but haven't touched them for twenty years. What a mess and a pain to keep clean. I've used the Micron pens a lot, although since precious little serious drafting is done anymore, I find a plain old Flair pen to be ideal. With a steady hand you can get...

    Airplane For Sale Mitchell wing

PM if you would like the email address to advertise it in EAA43's newsletter in Broomfield. If I could take on another project, I'd drive up tomorrow to see it (well, other than the snow we're about to get)... but there must be other locals interested.

What did you do on your airplane project today?

It's not much, but I made some tank baffles for the Dragonfly today and finished a repair to a resin-starved bubble in a layup on the outside of the tank. My build partner is out of town and our compadre who was building a Zenith alongside us in the workshop passed away this week. It was...

New Ownership At Hartzell Raised Prices Within One Month

I guess the flip side of the coin is, "good for you, Jim." He developed a line of products that challenged the big boys and he is now reaping the rewards of his labor.

    Formula-I?

I am speaking mostly from ignorance on these engines, so I could be totally wrong here. I am trying to get up to speed on these V-twins and I truly don't mean to come across as being too pessimistic. But I do believe there are some issues that will need to be overcome to have a successful...

EAA - For better or worse

Not that I know of. Part 23 is available to the public at ecfr.gov. Amateur designers may find the older version, attached below, be more useful. Part 23 was rewritten in 2017 to include performance standards whereas it was prescriptive previously.
