Looking for info on controlling airfoil shape in moldless composite wing

This sounds quite promising, but I'm struggling to understand the approach from the attached sketch. Do you have any pictures to help me understand?

Eureka CNC ... has anyone used their products??

I have purchased Eureka cores. The quality of their cuts is outstanding -- better than the typical homebuilder (or any human) could produce. There is virtually no evidence of a hot wire actually being used. Highly recommended, but nothing at all wrong with cutting your own cores.

The Canard Zone is back online

Sorry, I thought I answered this a while ago -- I must have seen a squirrel or something :) As an example, if you look at the typical EZ canards (Long-EZ, VariEze, Cozy, etc.) you'll notice that their forward canard wings are rather thin with short chords over a long length. Ever see the flex...

The Canard Zone is back online

Thanks everyone, it means a lot. May the HBA site never experience anything like that. It's possible, but considering most "modern" (wow, 30 year old tech is modern) canard designs derive from a common ancestor it's up to people like yourself to go for it. I did see a tube structure EZ being...

The Canard Zone is back online

Good to hear, although I can merge AVI into AVIIX for you to retain all your posts. Could be that AVIIX has an old email. Let's talk over there. I appreciate it. And yes, this was weighing over my head preventing me from enjoying the canard world as much as anyone. Thanks!

GP-5 goes down at Reno. Pilot killed

That sounds similar to the early CAFE races. Good stuff in this video: The CAFE Foundation CAFE 400 Race Series on Vimeo

John Roncz: The inside story about Rutan designs

No offense taken. :) Yes, it has indeed been way too long and I am extremely sensitive to this. It was not a simple "just load it" process, but I do know I could have done better. Moving forward, the good news is that the Canard Zone will be back online by the end of the month. I definitely...

GP-5 goes down at Reno. Pilot killed

Like this one? --> CAFE Foundation It's not actually a slow race, but factors in multiple variables in addition to time (weight, passengers, fuel burn, etc.) Neat stuff (for me at least)

John Roncz: The inside story about Rutan designs

In terms of databases, relatively small and easy to move around. That is what I am doing, at least. There's a full roadmap that will be shared once back online. Backups and data protection, as was always the case, are an essential component. The hosting environment itself will be an upgrade...

John Roncz: The inside story about Rutan designs

Glad to provide amusement for you. Apparently that includes you as well. Yeah, that's what happened <sarcasm>. I didn't "remove it", but someone did physically break into the datacenter and remove several pieces of equipment that brought down much more than the Canard Zone in my world at the...

John Roncz: The inside story about Rutan designs

Why would it be crazy to spend even $5,000 for a wing kit? That would still be considered cheap compared to other kit manufacturers today. Agreed, but trading money for poor performance in the rain (or bugs) would not be my choice. Again, worth $5,000 to me. The metal parts for the Q2 are...

John Roncz: The inside story about Rutan designs

Better not tell the people that are doing exactly that! The fuselage and tail can be built using the dimensions from the fuselage jigging templates and the bulkhead templates. The spar can be bought today. The metal parts are well-documented. You do not need it, but it makes it easier (as kit...

    How do Finger Brakes work?

I do have enough virtual experience (with PC simulators) to know this, and when not done properly, you do crash -- but without being subjected to any bodily injury or premature death.

    How do Finger Brakes work?

Yes, but I understand it's hard to feel the exact point at which this happens. If the concern is NOT to have brakes on at touchdown, you may not be fully flaring a rudder when you really want to. John, how have your landings been? Does your nose hit, bounce, and finally dampen as you...
