    New Zealand

Visited Mandeville two years ago and they have a nice collection. They are building a DH88 Comet (which is very cool) and there is a nice cafe next door.

    New Zealand

Omaka airfield near Blenheim (a short hop between islands from Wellington) has the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre. https://www.omaka.org.nz/ They have an interesting collection of Peter Jacksons WWI and II aircraft setup in elaborate stages made by Weta Workshop. The STOL competions are flown...

    SR-71

Really interesting. I'd also recommend the book by Ben Rich. He was a propulsion engineer on the SR71 and provides significantly more detail in his book. He took over Kelly Johnson to run Skunkworks... The book is full of the same level of engineering detail of programs from the U2 to the...

Homebuilt Aircraft Fleet Size - 2023

Ahh I see New Zealand has gone stealth mode on that map :) Thank you for the breakdown. I looked myself and found 68 Rans S-19s and the 85 RV12s you listed. It always seems like there are considerably more RV12s, but apparently not, clearly the Vans marketing machine works well...

    Interesting Design, Low AR wing

Hope cross linking threads here is ok. One simple Low AR design was the Rohr 2-175 which was constructed as a lower cost alternative to Cessnas for the training market while providing alternative looks and performance. And yes I’m trying to drum up interest to get the book reprinted on it...

Interest in reprints of Rohr 2-175 Fanjet book by Richard Fraser

Just had some interesting commentary on the EAA forum from a Rohr employee who ordered the materials for the aircraft but it was so secret he never actually saw the aircraft (until now), just the wingtip. This book will contain some gems of information by people who have actually designed...

Interest in reprints of Rohr 2-175 Fanjet book by Richard Fraser

The book is print to order so not going into a full print run. In other words you won’t find it instore unless they order too! After half a day I’m up to 6 but have yet to try a few other avenues to drum up interest.

Interest in reprints of Rohr 2-175 Fanjet book by Richard Fraser

Thanks for registering your interest Himat. I simply copied the 8% California state tax listed on the authors site which would only apply to CA locals. Obviously your sales tax will depend on where you are. No tax on books... nice!

Interest in reprints of Rohr 2-175 Fanjet book by Richard Fraser

Hi All, I have been in contact with the author of the book on the Rohr Fanjet. Unfortunately the book is out of print however if there are enough orders he is willing to get a small print run done. The 164 page paperback book (with colour) contains information on the design, development and...

Looking to buy/build RV12 or Rans19, any suggestions

Your shortlist was similar to mine (which also included the RV9). The S19 and RV12 are both designed to the same LSA standard and are therefore very similar from a performance perspective. From a design perspective they have some differences. The RV12 has a removeable wing, the pilot seat...

    Looking at a Rans S-19

I've finally decided to go ahead with a kit purchase and have decided that the Rans S-19 fits the bill. I've hunted through the usual forums for comment but would be interested if anyone has anything good/bad to say about these aircraft/kits. All the owners sites a fairly positive (as you...

Best priced GPS for the money?

If you have an iPhone, the software Air Nav works nicely for US$10 for the standard version or ~US$35 for the pro version. I use it as a backup to my paper maps... Air Navigation for iPhone The catch with the iPhone is GPS only works when you have reception.
