Thanks for the great link Bruce! Mike

    just the place to be

Oh, to answer your question about the Cessna150f shop manual and parts catalog, I have no idea. My experience with aluminum construction is ZERO so all I can do is go check the airplane salvage yard and try and hook you up. Mike

What's so funny about that! I own a farm down the road and we go up on weekends to get away. If he has one I can give you his number or I can drink beer and rip one apart. Sounds like fun to me. :gig: A 150 is a long shot but I don't know until I go there. I didn't realize your half way around...

Could they have done anything differently?

I can tell you from experience that with the Zenith STOL series of airplanes, if your below 300' when the engine quits, your in bad shape if your in a climb and need to do a 180. The drag is a killer on these airplanes. That's one of the compromises when going to this type of airplane. Just...

    fuel injection vs carburetors

I can get details. The fella is an engineer and lives real close. He has built several Pietenpols including one with a Warner and H. Ribblet airfoil, a real performer to say the least. Mike

    Learning to fly

Congrats Joe...... Your doing just fine, that's normal, in fact it may get a little fustrating but one day it will all click and you'll say to yourself " dang, I get it" it's a good feeling for sure. The first few hours can seem a little daunting but all that's going on is your learning bit's...

Could they have done anything differently?

I don't want to cause any conflict here but the idea is to never be in a position where you have to do a 180 deadstick. Some airplanes need to stick to a 5000' runway but others may require only 900'. The real difference IMO is the airplane. A J3 Cub doesn't require a 5000' runway in order to...

    just the place to be

I know where there's an airplane junk yard in Wisconsin that a farmer keeps where I could visit and see if he has a junk one I could take apart for dimensions. I don't know if he would let me, but I would be willing to try. I'll be heading up there in a couple of weeks, so I'll bring some beer...

    Gee Bee

People have built them but it's rare. I admire the fact that every once in a while someone decides to undertake a large project knowing it's not a practicle every day airplane. When you think about it, when deciding what to build and why, most of us have a list of requirements that have to me...

    Gee Bee

That's interesting, about the green paint. It's funny you mentioned the 9G rating, when I first read that I thought it was a typo. Mike

I wish I could say Iv'e flown one. I suppose I'll have to add that to my list as well. From what I gather the owners are pretty dedicated. If I'm not mistaken the KR-1 and KR-2 has it's roots from the Taylor. When you read the article, look at the photos, and read the stats it does seem to be a...

    fuel injection vs carburetors

Just for kicks here is a Pietenpol with a homebuilt FI system on a model A. It works great and is real simple. The owner designed it himself and it's been working great for years. Mike
