Mild Steel vs Stainless Steel exhaust system

I would go mild steel every time with a ceramic coating. Making it too long and cutting it back till you get the best pulse scavenging (as evident when the motor runs best at the rpm and altitude you desire) then of course get the cut tips re coated (the ceramic coaters will usually re coat...

    TURBO PROP!!!

just watching the turbo raven fly on old footage leaves my mind wondering about all the possibilities. What engine is the best? What plane engine combo would you like to see? What happened to NASA's plans for economical general aviation jet engines? I would like to see an SU-31 powered...

I would like to see this on an aircraft engine.

patents slow the western world down. Its sad really, think of all the cool one man operations that just don't have the money to start manufacturing for the masses, yet still have enough to take out a patent. Does anyone know how long a world patern lasts? I remember back in the day kawasaki had...

    Bamboo?? Interesting....

In Australia there is a company called "bamboo surf boards" the main quality of the board is to get the same strength in a standard fiberglass board you made it too heavy. For an all out pro board board they use thin fibre glass, but those boards snap like twigs. All in all the bamboo was far...

I would like to see this on an aircraft engine.

i wonder why none of the big name companies thought of this first. It could be used in everything from aviation to motoGP. I'd like to see it used on some well know aero engines.

    V12 Diesel

I don't understand manufactures claims of torque and power. Arm't they both linked by rpm. Quite possible that the marketing department and the engineers don't chat on these finer details. Someone once told me that Torque was and motors ability to maintain rpm under load. Is this true?

    V12 Diesel

oh the joys of diesel, more than twice the engine life, great ecconomy and they can run on jet fuel, eliminating the whole ethanol debate. The perfect "take it easy" engine.

    V12 Diesel

Not sure, but that figure was thrown around on some forums. Apparently the race versions long block weighs 201kg (5.5L), the new engine shares the same construction basics as the race engine and i cant imagine just the basic accesories weighing too much. being the smart weight saving aero people...

    Grumman panther (actual jet fighter)

After reading the article all i could think about was the poor fuel consumtion. Unless you were a millionare, flights would be rare as you would be working 2 jobs just to keep it fuelled up.
