    Cowl Exit Streamlining

I wish I had learned this saying years ago. "Perfection is the enemy of good" It would have saved me a lot of past wasted time. I do get the "strive for better", but sometimes it is a futile pursuit.

    Cowl Exit Streamlining

You people try to make mountains out of molehills, The shop that I work at has two RV-10's that we have done multiple yearly condition inspections on both. Neither one has had any cylinder or high heat problems. There is a Service Bulletin about the lower rudder hinge that we keep our eyes on...

Polytone is easiest to make a repair touch up. YMMV

Surveilance Off Flight Path, request assistance.

We work on an Enbridge aircraft, 50 and 100 hour inspections, etc. It is certainly not a restricted category aircraft, in any way. They look for breaks in the pipeline and also for people who encroach on the pipeline right of way. You should really put down the crack pipe.

    Another T-51 Mustang Loss...

Okay, I have the plans hardcopy. There isn't a "complete" electrical schematic for the T-51, nor will there ever be with the engine choices in play. When I was talking about fuel pumps it was specific to the electronic fuel injected LS3 motor. I thought that was clear, but I guess it wasn't...

    Another T-51 Mustang Loss...

Ok, been around a while and am an A & P that works on E-AB and does "condition inspections". Yes, If you are building , you should have bought the Aeroelectric connection book. As Marc Z. pointed out there are a couple of good schematics that give you a path to a good electrical system for an...

Lost Pilot Logbook....How to Deal with it.

I have heard in the past that what time is written on your last FAA flight test paperwork could be used as a back up. Doesn't help though if you have a few thousand hours after that, but it would be something.

    Sun n Fun 2022

Ok, it's getting close to that time. I will be there on 4/6/22, probably most of the day. I will be wearing a Lockheed Skunkworks black T-shirt with the Skunk on the back.

Questions about gear speed and flying fixed gear

I just looked around and found these two CAD drawings. It looks like the photos in post #28 don't scale correctly with the drawings about that retract cylinder attachment point. The spacers are way shorter on the drawing. I reference: B T51-03-INS-590-A for the spacers, and B T51-03-INS-0599-D...

Questions about gear speed and flying fixed gear

Yes, I agree that mount point looks like ass. I concur that a mounting bracket that ties into the surrounding structure would be helpful as well.

Questions about gear speed and flying fixed gear

I find this thread interesting. As usual there are thoughtful comments and others with arms flailing in the air. As stated above, one breaker on the main buss is a terrible idea. Questions for Pantdino, what serial number is your kit? Also, I seem to remember that you bought this plane complete...

Type 1 VW bolt help needed

Ok, mission accomplished. #1a and b are M6 X 1.0 #2a and b are M10 X 1.5 The hole beneath the oil pump is M8 X 1.25 #3 and #4 are both M10 X 1.5 Picture 1 shows some cheap bolts I bought at the hardware store, and turned them down into transfer pins. I can now get some accurate measurements...

Type 1 VW bolt help needed

Yeah, a little frustrating. No metric thread pitch gauge here. It is a new Brazilian AS41 universal case. I've been machining stuff for 40 years, and when we had something metric, we just had the appropriate tap or die, or single pointed it. Upon closer inspection, both 3 and 4 are helicoiled...

Type 1 VW bolt help needed

This is a brand new case #1a and b are definitely M6 X 1 #2a and b seem to be M10 X 1.5 they are both helicoiled #3 and #4 are bigger than M10, maybe M12 from measuring the thread I.D. I need to go to the hardware store tomorrow and get some cheap bolts to make transfer pins.

Type 1 VW bolt help needed

I thought I could figure these out by measuring for the minor bolt diameter. It's not working out well. Hopefully, someone can tell me the bolt diameters and thread pitch for these holes in my AS41 case. I'm buiding up some motor mount plates and a plate to mount a stator like Bob Hoovers plans...
