    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

I saw your site and you have some pretty nice looking inventory.

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

That's a tall order 😄. I don't even know how I would go about producing a herringbone gear.

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

Perhaps the oo's and ahh's will inspire them to go do their own thing or keep going with what they already have. If I have them come over, that's what I would be after anyway :).

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

Something like this is what I plan to start with. The only difference is that the gear will have a different type of center bore/shaft. Also, the face width of the gear will be increased.

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

I should talk about my initial plan on how I am going to kick this thing off. My mill has an integrated 4th axis (A) that can be used to simultaneously move in conjunction with the X, Y, and Z. I will need that to help me cut my gears. Since I have concerns about warping steel, I have decided...

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

So, I know the president of my local EAA chapter and he has asked me whether or not I would like to have the gang stop by my hangar one of these days to check out what I am doing. I wanted to accept and say sure, but there really was not a whole lot to talk about at the time over at the...

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

I would definitely be interested in seeing what you have accomplished, Chris. No, I have not yet machined a geared drive setup for the engine. I am in the process of tooling up my mill so I can get started on it. I plan to use specialty carbide cutters for the prototyping work and then once a...

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

Hi Bill, So I am doing this with a G13BB first because it just to happens to be what I have at my disposal. I will go ahead and play around with that and make a gearbox for it. 4140 shafts, nitrided gears, etc. I will run the program while you guys can watch. I'm quite interested in doing this...

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

Chris, that's great to know! My hangar is out at the New Carlisle airport (Andy Barnhardt Memorial). Your welcome to get involved if you like :). I have had this engine sitting around my hangar/shop for the last 5 or 6 years and I have been wanting to get it running. The mill I have is a CNC...

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

So, yes the camshaft does protrude out of the cylinder head. It has two spurs on it that look to be 90 deg to each other.

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

Tonight I will visit the shop again and see what is going on inside of that sensor cover. I want to say that the camshaft actually protrudes out of the valve cover and into that sensor housing. That's probably why the sensor is side-mounted like it is. I'll find out for sure.

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

OK, so here is what it has. Looks like where the distributor would have been there is now a cam sensor. I am wondering if the camshaft actually protrudes into that housing that has that sensor on its side. It may be a hall effect sensor with three terminals. Anyway, I am now wondering if I would...

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

That sounds good. I will go to my shop in just a little bit and check out the engine to see what it has going on on its cylinder head. I believe that thing was set up to run wasted spark ignition when it was in a car. When I got it, the owner had GSXR 1000 ITBs on it. Looked like a pretty neat...

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

I would probably have to get all the original supporting equipment to get that stock ECU to run correctly. I only have the long block. My assumption is if I got a carb and a distributor, then I would not have to fool with the mess of wires. I am just wanting to use the engine as a test bench for...

    Running a G13BB on a test stand?

I have a G13BB long block that I would like to get running on a test stand and I am wondering what the easiest way to do that would be? I thought about going the stand-alone fuel management system route, but then I figured out that those are generally not plug and play and need a lot of work to...

Scrappy’s Landing Gear Wings - Yay or Nay?

One thing that may be somewhat of an issue is that those landing gear legs may have enough surface area on them to begin acting like wings of their own. If so, then that is a heck of a lot of negative dihedral. Perhaps some kind of unwanted roll tendencies may arise from that in certain flight...

A good common engine to convert?

So you mean the phenomena where the shafts in the gearbox tend to twist slightly and then unload their energy on the gears and repeat at a certain Hz?

A good common engine to convert?

I am glad you brought up some of the issues because that's what I am interested in. I have known too many guys that have talked about the failures of PSRUs with practically no context of the situation. As soon as I started to pry and ask analytical questions concerning what failed, they are at a...

A good common engine to convert?

Hi everyone, I am wondering what engines are popular out there to do the auto conversions on? I have at my disposal a machine shop where I could fabricate my own PSRU and I plan to get on with it. Only thing is that I own a Suzuki G13BB and a Subaru EG33. If I recall, they stopped making parts...
