Thanks. I suspected the stall speeds might be too high. Interesting plane, though.

Liquid cooled / fuel injected A65 cylinders

Nemo, I'd consider an A75. About the same weight, but it's rated for 2500 rpm, vs 2300 for the 65. You might be able to increase the HP by changing the compression.

Liquid cooled / fuel injected A65 cylinders

Seems there would be some latitude in modifying the 65 for experimental use, but I can tell you from experience the jugs (good ones, that is) are hard to come by! Once you've modified one it cannot be returned to "certified" status. The biggest problem with the 65 is limited compression options...

Liquid cooled / fuel injected A65 cylinders

Harry Fenton has answered a lot of questions about "upgrading" the A65. http://www.bowersflybaby.com/tech/fenton.htm

Liquid cooled / fuel injected A65 cylinders

IIRC, the A75 (essentially the same engine) had optional fuel injection. EI did not exist in that era. The A65 is pretty economical as-is. The one in my Luscombe burns just under 4 gph at 2150 rpm.
