    Corby Starlet Plans

That's a great looking project, and I tell you if I weren't in the middle of my current one I'd buy that up in a heartbeat.

    Corby Starlet Plans

I thought the Hummel Bird would be a great alternative, but I found some time ago my metal working skills are quite sub-par. Might still be worth a look in the future if I get time to improve my skills before starting a new project. Currently working on a Team HiMax.

    Corby Starlet Plans

From my estimation he's now in his late 80's. If he's the last source for plans, I am concerned they will not be around much longer. Still haven't heard back from him.

    Corby Starlet Plans

I've tried email and phone, and there was never any response.

I'll keep everyone posted. And certainly, if anyone has a complete set for sale, do let me know!

    Corby Starlet Plans

I've sent him an email but haven't heard back. I saw a post on another forum from someone who said he wasn't having much luck either. From what I can tell, John is 87 years old, so I don't know how active he is anymore. I also have a call in to Aircraft Spruce to see if they can chase down a...

    Corby Starlet Plans

Looking for a complete set of Corby Starlet plans (and builders manual). Getting hard to find. Anyone have a set for sale?

What did you do on your airplane project today?

Cutting out wing rib gussets. Lots and lots of gussets. I feel like I'm preparing to build a doll house rather than a pair of aircraft wings!

    Harbor Freight Heads up

I bought a small trim router from them, and although it has a lot of plastic on it and would be toast if i ever dropped it, I used it extensively to build a 10' rowboat, and it's still going.

    mixing approved species of wood

Currently Aircraft Spruce is quoting a 3 week lead time on spruce capstrip orders, and Wicks is quoting 4 weeks. Just FYI.

What did you do on your airplane project today?

Going to be a MiniMax 1500.

What did you do on your airplane project today?

Today was Project 0: you have to start somewhere, and somewhere was a good start on the 3x16' workbench needed to construct my aircraft.

    What part to complete first?

Space isn't an issue. I've got a pretty roomy two-car garage with space to hoist a fuse if needed and still get the cars inside.

    What part to complete first?

I'm vacillating between a Fly Baby and a VMax. VMax is a kit, and (according to the designer) can be built in ~400 hours (but I know designers are liars). The Fly Baby would be scratch built and would easily take 2 or 3 times longer to build than the VMax, but could be done for less $$$. I want...

    What part to complete first?

Fly Baby (or perhaps a VMax).

    What part to complete first?

I'm curious how many builders out there started on something other than the fuselage when they began their project. It seems most prefer to build the fuse first, but I'm wondering if there are some benefits to completing some other part first, such as the wings. Any pros/cons?

    Intro

Cape Girardeau is a LONG way from my location (central Missouri). There's a local EAA chapter in Jefferson City, which is a convenient distance. I might connect with them and see if anyone owns a MiniMax or Fly Baby locally. It would be great to see actual flying examples.
