Parting out Avid Flyer A model. (new Hirth 65 HP engine)

I may be interested in the engine, and wheel brake combo. Do you know what brakes are on it?

    Rotax 503 Rebuild?

Doesn’t the center bearing O-rings provide an airtight seal for air\fuel mixture between chambers? Good luck with that!

    Rotax 503 Rebuild?

Thanks Armilite, it is a Dual plug, dual carb engine, just shy of 300 hours. I purchased the plane from my friends wife. He passed away. He put it in storage while he perused other aviation interests. The bad thing about the engine is that he quit flying it back in ‘06. No special storage...

    Oratex Covering System

I’m trying to get some information on the process for the last two weeks and only got an email response yesterday. I wanted the 600 weight and associated materials. They responded back with they could better quote me if I provided what type of aircraft, where I was flying and if I had a...

    Tedlar

I have no problem with any of the certified processes (do it professionally) with great success. Just trying to keep on the very light side with great results. Oh well. I keep looking...

    Tedlar

After some research I can acquire the Tedlar but not sure what the two sided tape or seam tape is. Any ideas? I tried to contact the Oratex people on their covering material but no answer or reply...nada... Aggravates me..:mad2:

    Rotax 503 Rebuild?

After talking to our Rotax repair facility I believe I will buy new crankshaft if I go with the 503. Does anyone know if Rotax is going to “support” the smaller engines other than the 582? Parts not manufactured after a certain time period?

    Cora: VTOL self-piloting air taxi

The FAA is definitely working on a path for it. It will take some time but certainly not “decades”. The Vahana comes to mind and is working towards certification.

    Tedlar

The covering on it now is Tedlar and is definitely still airworthy with over 480 hours/15+years in service. The tapes are yellowing and that is the reason for recover. Plane is due a rebuild for sure.

    Tedlar

That’s the same way that the Falcon XP’s are covered originally. With Tedlar and two sided tape. If I can’t acquire the Tedlar process materials I “think” the Oratex process would be the next in line as far as weight goes.

    Tedlar

It should be way lighter than the standard covering/paint process. I have sent an email to the Oratex people but no reply yet.:mad2: I was hoping to use the Tedlar process. Still going to try...

I’m considering Oratex. Might be comparable/ easier/ light.

    Rotax 503 Rebuild?

I would figure you would need the main crankshaft seals! I did not know that they recommend the crank to be scrapped. Do the engines just turn to scrap or have to order new? Really want a 582 instead but will look further!

    Tedlar

I have made contact to falconeast. They are the ones with the knowledge but no reply yet. I do understand the cost but time it will save sans paint... We will see.

    Rotax 503 Rebuild?

Is it feasible to rebuild a 503 by a DIYer? My engine is due a rebuild and wondering if I can do it myself. I am very capable of most mechanical things (lycoming) any car and Diesel engines. Never done a Rotax. Available books or manuals? Gotchas?

    Tedlar

Wanting to do a recover on a Falcon XP. Anyone have experience with the stuff? Thought about Oratex but really, really like the transparent look on that aircraft.

    Matco wheel/brake Assy. KR2

I’m looking for a set of Matco wheel assemblies with brakes for my KR2. It originally had band brakes, then I installed Great Plains, which I don’t like the fit. Anyone have a set collecting dust? Have some items for trade if any interest in that, or can purchase outright. Thanks.
