What's your 'end of 2021' tool of choice to draw wirebook diagrams?

I used Visio. Maybe not the best tool for the job, but it worked for me.

    Cowling fasteners

    I used Skybolt C4000 fasteners.

Yeah. But as for any possible damage to the prop, I bet he's "okay with that".

I-90 Goes through Butte, MT. The airport at Butte (about 1 mile from I-90) is about 5,500'. And the mountains rise pretty steeply along I-90 in places. Not a place I would want to be 1,000' AGL in a plane with marginal if not unknown performance characteristics.

Except he's not on a course to take the southern route. And I'm thinking (actually guessing) that he hasn't ventured higher than 6000 due to cooling issues... in the winter. If that's correct, there's no way he's going to get high enough to make the northern route in the summer. His...

Considering that the highest that plane has ever been is about 6,000', it would be an incredibly bad idea to attempt a flight over the Rockies. He's got to have another destination in mind.

Is he going to fuel up with Jet-A? I was under the impression that he had been bringing in diesel to Valdosta and running that.

Flying 40 hours doesn't change where he can fly. Maybe he doesn't realize what his Operating Limitations are? Maybe he thinks they're like E/AB Operating Limitations? And if this is the flight to the west coast, it's a pretty bad route for a plane that's never been higher than 6,000'.

That's a very good question. Passing Montgomery now. 130kts at 3,500'.

Not one of those... points has any relevance on your commenting about another users post being the "most ridiculous of 2021". What is your engineering background in composites?

I really don't think there's any problem with the wing. Not draining the oil to look for chunks of metal is almost a crime.

"New engine is going to cost about $5,000." Doesn't sound like an IO-550 to me.

Calibrated it? Although I suppose it's possible that the Garmin has a means of adjusting the static pressure. Then again, you wouldn't be able to do that until you've flown and have a baseline.

I was wondering about the Jet-A vs. diesel so I posted a question. IIRC, the consensus was that while a street diesel would run on Jet-A, it wouldn't be good long term. Diesel has lubricants in it that Jet-A doesn't. So if you want to run Jet-A in an engine that wasn't built for it, you would...

There's quite a few airports with auto fuel. I don't think that I've ever seen a diesel pump at an airport though.

So that's the issue?!?! 50 year old engine technology. Well I'll be. Here I thought it had more to do with crazy expensive airplanes with crazy expensive parts due to low volume and high liability. Out of curiosity, what university do you teach economics at?

Neither did I. I said "relatively" flat. As in: compared to traditional aircraft. One guy (pilot) I took up in my Velocity had never been up in a canard type aircraft before. On landing while he didn't say anything, he seemed... uncomfortable. After landing I asked what was up and he...
