    Electric Powered Fixed Wing U/L

Ah surely i have the permission, but dont have the desire. (My body fat is at 16%, in the healthy range, and i'm happy with it... ) And as for the terror watch list... well let's just say it's getting a bit (sarcasm cough cough) rediculous... I can understand wanting protection, but in the...

    Electric Powered Fixed Wing U/L

Well that gives me the info i need to calculate it myself  My plane is one of the original MX's, with a rotax 503 "upgrade" also came with the original cuyuna 430. Surprisingly, they're almost the same weight. but max speed? i might be over on that with an effecient prop... Although...

    Sun-n-Fun U/Ls

Mark- that is one sweet biplane. How much does that engine weigh?

    quicksilver wing support ?

While that is true, i dont want it mounted: 1: on one of the smallest, weakest spots on the plane, and 2: pointed straight at the propellor, tail assembly and axle. I'll try to post a pic of where it's mounted now. i know it's not right.

    quicksilver wing support ?

That's quite the site, he sounds like an expert for sure. I'll be contacting him for more info when i'm putting it all together. Thanks for the info Dana

    Electric Powered Fixed Wing U/L

Dana- would it work if i told you that an averaged measured cruise speed glide ratio from my local UL trainer (lodi, CA) is approximately 5.3:1 to 5.5:1 with the same plane? Needswings- are you talking about wiring a couple thousand supercapacitors together?

    Electric Powered Fixed Wing U/L

Ok, that's all good info, but i'm missing one key number. the drag. How would one go about calculating this?... lets say, for a quicksilver MX at a cruise of 45mph?

    quicksilver wing support ?

Oh wow. i would've thought exactly the opposite.

    Electric Powered Fixed Wing U/L

good to know! i'll look into those. As for the regeneration? i havent the slightest clue. i havent read much about that.

    Electric Powered Fixed Wing U/L

to throw back into the electric motors, how much Horsepower does one need to cruise at a given speed??? That would be the biggest factor in range i would think...

    Hello from Texas....

Nice to meet you and welcome to homebuilt aircraft! I've found this site very helpful already. I was going to suggest an ultralight, but i dont think they have that kind of range.

    Electric Powered Fixed Wing U/L

True, but i was taking TQ vs HP at the engine. Absolutely, i agree the more force (torque) you can put at the prop, the more thrust you have available. But if you're selecting an engine, the higher horsepower engine will always produce more torque at the prop. Horsepower is a way of optimizing...

    Electric Powered Fixed Wing U/L

Oh, and as for cars vs boats vs planes, an engine's and engine, no matter what the use. work does not change (with the exception of different driveline efficiencies) for different applications.

    Electric Powered Fixed Wing U/L

The point is, no matter what rpm the engine makes the horsepower at, if you reduce it (or gear it up) to the RPM at which you'll turn the prop, the higher horsepower always wins. when you're multiplying torque, you're dividing rpms by the same factor, and therefore the horsepower stays the...
