Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

Yes sir, I understand that problem as well. It is a discouraging thing to find a thread on a forum the never has an outcome listed. It is a bunch of information provided to the original poster, but they never post how the story ended... I can't thank this forum enough for sharing the...

Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

Here is a little video I made of it idling... No, the engine isn't stock... it started life as a Chinese made Honda GX200 Clone engine, a Harbor Freight Predator 212cc, rated at 6.5hp @ 3600RPM (Governed). This one is a tad warmer than that... No Governor Torque Cam Stronger Valve Springs...

Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

A long time since I started this thread, but I owe you all a "Thank You" I ended up using the heavy weight Dacron, 3M Fastbond, and Valspar Latex It is together, running well, and a total hoot to drive... Was making a top speed jaunt down my normal runway/public road when some mouth...

Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

Thanks Proppastie, What is the glue you suggest, and for my application, what are the paint options for Dacron? I can probably get away with 3 yards of the heavy Dacron, the adhesive, and the paint for less than the $150 Freight charge for the Oratex. Oh, and why did you call it Dacron Bleed...

Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

Well, Oratex is out... The quote I got was for 3 meters of 6000 fabric, with a the hot melt glue, Felt Blade, Cleaner, Wax, and Freight... $623 Over half the cost I have in my Kart project already... Dacron and latex paint is looking pretty good right about now...

Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

Very True... I'm running the Air Filter, Bored Honda Carb, header, 18# valve Springs, Billet Flywheel, Governor/low oil sensor Removed, Cam and I have a Connecting Rod coming that will 0 deck the piston. a lot cheaper to play with than my '91 240SX! Like I mentioned, I hit 48 Mph with a 5:1...

Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

Thanks for the information, I'll shoot Oratex an email today with a couple Kart photos and see if they will work with me. OR find out how much 3 yards of Fokker Red will be... :ponder: Thanks for the link, looks like a Goodwill iron WILL apply the stuff! As for the 3/4 wheeled project...

Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

Watching the Oratex videos, it looks like there is some iron they use that slices, dices and shrinks aircraft covering, not to mention they spec a Steinel Digital Heat Gun that runs $150 As for how much fabric... The very front of the cart to the tip of the tail cone is 100" in Length And the...

The idea of easy application and no painting sounds great. I'm measure about how much I think I'll needs, ad for some slop and try contacting them... probably once I get the price, I'll go by the Dacron! Thanks

I'm not dead, and this project is not dead.. in fact, it is finally fully alive, and drive-able! I want to thank all you fine people for the input, and I am finally to the stage of getting ready to blow it apart to paint the frame, smooth the welds, and do the fabric. As it stands now...

Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

Cycle Karts have a loose design spec (http://cyclekarts.com/): Cyclekart= A one-seat car using Honda 17"x 1 3/4" or 2" rims, 2.50 x 17" tires (2.75's have been used on the Alfa), a 38" track, wheelbase as close to 66" as the aesthetics of the car will allow (err on the shorter side for more...

Dope and Fabric on a Cycle Kart

As I mentioned in my introduction post, I am building a Cycle Kart. A Cycle Kart is basically an Adult Go Kart, powered by a 6.5hp ~200-212 cc engine, but built in the inspired style of a 1920s-1930s Grand Prix or Special car. My inspiration car is the 1929 Morgan RIP Special. this car is...

    Howdy from the desert

Thanks for all the greetings. I think (if it is OK), I'll start a thread in the Tube and Fabric section One Wing. Very cool. Cycle Karts usually run a 6.5 hp Honda GX200 or Chinese Clone (Harbor Fright Predator 212cc) with a "Stage 1" modification kit to get the up to about 10-12hp. Also...

    Howdy from the desert

hello everyone, I've been lurking on this forum for a while, however, I'm not building an aircraft. I have been looking for information on dope and fabric covering. I am building a Cycle Kart (adult go-kart in a 1920's/1930 style Special or Grand Grix car). The car I am building a loose...
