    burning holes in the sky

With rising fuel prices, no one wants to use a 172 to go burning holes in the sky. What (homebuilt) planes would be great for that purpose. Only requirements are 2 seats and really low fuel consumption

Looking for suggestions on aircraft to build

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/kitspages/cadet.php well, is not all wood, but the wings are (I think), its fast, and pretty fuel efficient. I'd build it in my garage.

How to be an Aeronautical Engineer on the cheap!

unless anyone here is trying to think ahead of Boeing, Lockheed martin, and airbus, and patent everything first, I think this would be a bit easier, and more... um... easy? http://www.zenithair.com/kit-data/ht.html

filling it up with auto fuel?

filling it up with auto fuel?

but how do you physically put it in the tank? is it available at the airport plane fillup thingie?

    radio power vs transmission distance?

thanks for that info. So CW would be when important for receiving? which isn't too important for towered airports, because they have super high power transmitters, right? but important more for aircraft to aircraft? or am I just talking about nothing here? and I saw on an armature (ham) radio...

    radio power vs transmission distance?

because it came first, and not as many people know how to use it in comparison to a GPS. And I'd rather carry one device instead of two.

    radio power vs transmission distance?

thanks for the info, and I do know its VOR, not GPS, which IMHO is the only way to navigate. edit- what antenna would I want to use because I do not see anything that on aircraft spruce for 108 to 137 MgHz, every thing is just either for the COM band, or the NAV band. also, do you have any...

    radio power vs transmission distance?

looking at radios, I see many different values for the output power; some hand helds have 1.5W CW (morse code?) and 5.0W PEP (max power possible?) while the Bendix-Kings have 16W minimum. Is it possible to increase that 5.0W to something bigger (amplifier inline with the antenna, or larger...

filling it up with auto fuel?

for those of you that use auto fuel in you converted engine, I'm curious how you fill it up. I know that at your home field you could get a few five gallon tanks and fill them at the pump, but what about when you fly and need to fuel and you don't have a car to take you to the gas station. how...

    Alpi Pioneer 200

I got a responce to the e-mail, and it is either rtf, or kit, which as nice as it would be, I'd want to build the thing, considering I love to work with wood (no jokes please )

    Culver Cadet plans?

that is the steel version I was talking about. I would prefer to have a all wood plane, if possible.

    Culver Cadet plans?

anyone know where I could get plans for a Culver Cadet, or something similar? I'm looking for a wooden airframe, not the new metal one (although that might have to do If I can't get a hold of the wood ones)

    My design concept...

I was playing with MDsolids, and it always game me the same numbers for the deflection for any pipe, so I'm not sure what is up, but it was weird. edit- take a look at this: http://www.dragonplate.com/ you might be able to get a lot of stuff there for the frame, and the price seems pretty good.

    Alpi Pioneer 200

http://www.alpiaviation.com/eng/index.php what do you think of the pioneer 200 kit, http://www.alpiaviation.com/eng/pr_p200_kitav.php? no plans available, but the plane looks nice, and runs just within sport aircraft specs with an 80hp engine. I e-mailed them about just getting plans, but I...

    My design concept...

yes, and the weights are equal to that proportion- steel is 3x stiffer than aluminum, and 3x the weight. with a piece of steel 12 feet in length, supported at one end, and at 4 feet, the other end will go down .33 inches under 600 lbs, which would be like a 100 lb tail under 6g. Under 100 lbs...

    AerOplane CamOuflage

good points. I didn't think of airborne threats.... but it'd be weird to fly along side it, or slightly higher than it... ground on top, sky on bottom...

fully castering and locking or seetable?

thanks for the link. I like how that sounds, and I think that is what I'll do. edit- http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/lgpages/matco_tw.php what about that, its $100 cheaper, but its pneumatic (06-00831) (or is that just the wheel), and is castering/ steerable just the same.

    AerOplane CamOuflage

shouldn't the airplane be blue and white since you don't want it seen from the ground, not from in the air?
