TELEDYNE ENGINE 4A084-4 ALL TESTED FOR SALE

Most folks using these engines put them at about 43 hp. In the military documentation for them the engineers tested them and got 35 hp, but this was stock and with the loading of the big cooling fan. One man who is very experienced with these feels he is getting ~50 hp as he has EFI on it.

    DIY Two-Stroke Engine

I think that is what he was trying to say without writing a huge treates on it. Typically it doesn't, not in motorcycles anyway. I can provide some more detail. I have always wondered why they didn't wind tighter... I am wondering if 2-stroke internal pumping losses are greater than for a...

    What Happened To...Le Pelican

<snip> > The Le Pelican flew (supposedley) quite well on it's 18 HP B&S engine so my '042 may be a good substitute. I'd think the B&S is close to the 80# mark, like my '042. I haven't seen any weight figures so that's only speculation. Lynn From Beaujon Aircraft Enduro plans, Briggs 16 hp @...

    Extreme fuel mileage

This is true. However there isn't much margin for gains provided by ANY carb or injection, no matter how sophisticated. The various inefficiencies of the modern internal combustion engine are pretty well known and charted. When you look at them you see little room for improvement, certainly the...

    Extreme fuel mileage

Wish I could buy a new one now. They got better mpg than the Prious. A fella who owns the plane "Green Lady", a 1/2 VW powered Weedhopper, (Google it) gets 1 gal/hr at 45 mph in that super draggy plane. *I* read one Quickie 1 feller claiming that he got 1 gal/hr burn at 100 mph. He cited a...

Why can't I just get in?

    > maybe after I get bored with my ultralight and want to go > farther than just around north dakota. I'll join an airplane > club and go in on a plane. Earlier you said that your plane LOOKED like an ultralight, back when you were being warned about FAA catching you. I would like to point...

    Shaving weight without sacrificing safety

I just jumped in here, not sure your situation... if you are trying to meet Part 103 then consider making the instrument panel portable. I have been told (subject to verification here) that if you can un-plug the panel and carry it home with you it counts as luggage, not as part of the plane. GeoB
