    Another oddity in a Belite

Hi all, that was my video and what you see is the result of changes to the wing design that were not in the build manual, not in any annotated builder announcements, and not in any notes or documentation offered by Belite. When I called to ask what to do with the sail/anti-sail struts (aka...

1/2 VW quits and results in a hard landing. Comments?

Sadly the Ultracub has limited headroom for brain bucket. I stand 5'10" tall and with a 1 inch pad on the seat my hair brushes the lexan roof. If I were to slouch down I could wear a helmet, but then my back would pay the price just sitting there ...... and I shudder at the thought of what...

1/2 VW quits and results in a hard landing. Comments?

Thank you for the kind words. I am using a Zenith updraft carb, it is brand new with about 2 hours of run time on it (installed over the winter). The old carb was a junker the previous owner threw into the box, I could not get that thing to lean out for the life of me so I dumped it. I don't...

1/2 VW quits and results in a hard landing. Comments?

There is a threaded hole at the bottom of the tank and I fitted a drain plug to test for water. Fuel line runs at the bottom of the cockpit up to the fuel pump on top of the motor, then down to the updraft carb under the engine.

1/2 VW quits and results in a hard landing. Comments?

Very true, but this is an ultralight. I agree that wisdom dictates all that should be done but there is no oversight, no governance, and no drive to comply. I am not making excuses, but this is the system under which UL pilots operate and contributes to their (my) lack of knowledge.

1/2 VW quits and results in a hard landing. Comments?

I built it up from a kit, all pieces and parts in boxes. There were changes to the design that weren't documented so I had to improvise, adapt, and overcome to get it all put together.

I did a thorough pre-flight including topping off the tank. Engine quit about 43 minutes into the flight.

No not the maiden flight. I had done 6 flight previously for a total of approximately 4 hours. This was a 40 minute flight I planned to extend the envelope a bit.

1/2 VW quits and results in a hard landing. Comments?

Hi all, I thought I'd pipe in since this is my video. First thanks for the commentary and observations, I am getting quite a lot of good (sometimes biting) feedback and I can only say it is all justified. What kind of a pilot would I be if I didn't listen to the experience of those who tread...
