Classic Side-by-side Two-seaters as LSA Inspiration

Typical Jodel wings - so much taper + dihedral + washout on end panels aren't giving only aerodynamic benefits. Taper + dihedral lowers lift and increases tip stall, extreme washout compensates it, but also lowers lift. Better is to build wings at aileron area with only slight taper and washout...

Classic Side-by-side Two-seaters as LSA Inspiration

Yes Dan, it have a box spar, as obvious in Jodels. I thought to build it Cherry way - without Jodel box spar. btw Exist one more way to build foldwing Jodel - as on Falconar

Classic Side-by-side Two-seaters as LSA Inspiration

Dan, if You build D20 with Cherry way detachable wings, composite carriage leg under centerplane, it'll be lighter to D11 Nothing is wrong with Your D11 - I flew with friend in his D11 with 2.1L VW and even of small cockpit and weight isn't bad. Later Jodel / Robin development showed that use of...

Classic Side-by-side Two-seaters as LSA Inspiration

Dan, You're partly right - detachable wings ads weight and complexity, but not so terrible and could help in other areas. If would build Jodel, then surely not old series D11 - D20 have wider cockpit, newer much better wing airfoil 43013.5, is much lighter - flying well with 80hp (lower...

    I like 208C more :D

Classic Side-by-side Two-seaters as LSA Inspiration

Reasonable way, to build Jodel like plane, is to build inovative D20 with detachable wings, modified to Robin 3000 - without that Jodel too much taper and too much dihedral and washout. Wingtips should be done TailWind way.

Elevons or flaperons on a tandem-wing design

One of nice example of tandem (joined wing) is Ligeti Stratos. Could be good to know more about use of its control surfaces - what serve as elevator(elevon), flaps, ailerons.

440 Kawasaki PSRU design, parts, plans, sources

I like to get drawings of 582 tuned pipe and belt PSRU, for use with 600ccm ArctiCat Suzuki engine Actually are available 800ccm Rotax engines, so also pipe and PSRU, could be useful.

    Building a VW Aero-Engine

I didn't heard around about use of 94mm bore, or even common. Also think, that bore over 92mm is nonsense on VW type I and it only produces problems. Simpliest tuning, without need of machining block and heads, is use of 74mm crank and 88mm bore cylinders - it gives 1800cc. Next cubatures in...

    Building a VW Aero-Engine

1700cc engine uses 88mm cylinders and as You wrote, it shouldn't be problematic, with normal compression. 1835cc engine with 92mm cylinders needs to resize cylinder holes in block too big, so bolts are too close - haven't enough material around bolt and with higher compression are bolts often...

    Proper Strength of Plywood

1.2mm birch plywood is replace for 1.6mm okoume (gabon). Here in mid Europe we're often using thin finnish birch plywood, which is produced by Koskisen - that I believe, is also sold by ACS (KoskiPly birch exterior, AB/B quality), as I found Koskisen datasheet on ACS, time ago. Koskisen was...
