    Interesting point. When I had planes with BRS chutes mounted I always aimed them down....not up. If the plane was still in straight and level flight I would never have pulled the handle.

    Airplane on a treadmill

    Not a Catalina...a two place Quicksilver on floats. Flying with a passenger at near gross weight... takeoff airspeed was right at 28 mph. I landed on the Missouri river which runs by the airfield. Unfortunately there wasn't much wind...maybe 5 mph blowing in the same direction as the river...
