Radio Interference with new LED Landing lights

Just to add to suggestions above, the capacitor and inductor should be mounted on each light or as close as possible. Shielded wire or twisted-pair wiring may help. Looping the wire through a ferrite bead may help. Common ground terminal blocks may help. All are bandaids to fix the noisy...

It's a new year and here's to hoping everyone recovers their health! But this year is called 2020 Won 😳

    $10 gallon Avgas

My understanding is that due to the higher octane & cooling effects of ethanol, engines specifically designed to run on it can be much more efficient, negating the lower BTU. One proposed engine design is similar to a diesel, with turbo-charging and very high compression ratios (15-25:1). The...

    Shoot My Plane Down.

This thread sounds more like something I would see on Reddit. The answer is simple: throw money at it until you run out of money and then see if it will fly. If it doesn’t fly then you know you did not have enough money.

Adding redundant fuel and spark to auto/sled/motorcycle conversions.

<quote>"I think you are getting to the point where the cure is worse than the disease:(" </quote> I could not agree more. Redundancy adds complexity and failure modes. I have had more failures in the electronics world of my day job from redundancy than from actual hardware.

    GPS and ELT Antennas

The WAAS GPS can provide GPS to an ELT, but not via the antennae. Use the serial-out on the GPS, and the serial-in on the ELT, connected with a twisted and/or shielded pair of wires.

    Cri Cri license endorsement ?

If the plane has more than one engine, you need a multi-engine rating on your pilot's certificate. Cri-cri, Seneca, A-10; aircraft model does not matter, only engine quantity. Excluding of course, any aircraft requiring type ratings. You can't fly a B737 or A320 with just a multi-engine rating.

    L 19 Birdog story

My father was crew-chief on an L-19 at the Fort Lewis Army base in WA during the late 50s. He had a lot of stories, such as putting spools of communication wire on the wing racks, tying a rock to the end of wire, and dropping it out the window to string it across rough terrain. They had night...

    Augmented Reality in Aviation

It might be better to start with the Hudly, such as GRT Avionics is using. Not full AR, but much more benign failure mode.

    Mr Fisher?

Yes, Tony has mentioned flying RC and Dallas a few times. I’m planning to get re-started on the Bearhawk soon. This last year has been difficult with my father’s cancer and funeral. He was hoping to see the Bearhawk fly. He’ll have to watch from a little higher viewpoint now.

    Mr Fisher?

I'm not on this site much. I was making good progress on the Bearhawk until a little over 2 years ago, when we decided to move. I live at the same airpark as Ed now. Haven't touched the Bearhawk since the move, but bought a GP4 and also flying a Champ. I really need to get back to the...
