    Small turbine engines.

    Just found this; https://www.scaled-power.com/

    Small turbine engines.

Short answer from what I have found, No! Unless $1000/kW is cheap to you. FWIW I'm looking for a microturbine in the 15kW to 30kW power range with low enough shaft speed for an electric hybrid. Ideally recuperated since the spfc at these scales is appalling. I'm sure you have already found...

Sorry, did a search and found nothing. :(

    Blackfly VTOL

Very similar to a VTOL approach I have been thinking about for the past year. It might be more useful as a hybrid electric. https://www.opener.aero/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jcpq6XYYoY4

    Distributed Electric propulsion Concept

I'm also intrigued by the possibilities of deflected thrust VTOL. DEP and deflected blown flap might be an ideal match for VTOL. The Onera Pterosaur (UAV) caught my eye. See here on page 20; http://www.nianet.org/ODM/ODM%20Wednesday%20presentations%20Final/13%20LeTallec%20ONERA.pdf

Tier 1 Engineering - Electric Helicopter Test Flight

Totally agree. Hybrid design with emergency battery power is absolutely sane IMHO. Perhaps Metal-Air may get there one day with some very clever engineering/materials science/manufacturing techniques behind it but it probably won't be for a very long time.

Tier 1 Engineering - Electric Helicopter Test Flight

Yep, probably the worst application of battery power imaginable....helicopters. Yet I was intrigued to see it flying quite well.

Tier 1 Engineering - Electric Helicopter Test Flight

Just sharing an interesting test of an electric helicopter. (Yes, that's the HUGE battery bank on the belly!) http://www.tier1engineering.com/news/093016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-05wY41ht1s

Electric Aircraft - Generator + Battery = Power Distibution Unit??

Bobbyz, Thanks for the link, I haven't seen these before so it was worth a look. That SolarFlight looks like it could be an amazing flying experience and I'd have to say that the tech is getting there for glider-like aircraft.

Electric Aircraft - Generator + Battery = Power Distibution Unit??

Bobyz I think you might be referring to the "Greased Lightning" distributed propulsion aircraft? The design plan has two diesel genesrators in the rear of the fuselage although they didn't have solar panels on it that I saw. I have briefly looked at some panels for this very purpose but from...

Electric Aircraft - Generator + Battery = Power Distibution Unit??

I'm still looking into the possibility of e-aircraft (with all their limitations) however, here is where I'm a little stuck with some of the electronics. Since batteries alone cannot be the answer (for now), an ICE generator is required for a proportion of the total power for a series hybrid...

    Small engines - new

I'd be surprised if they answered you. Already tried it under my own business name and not a peep. They appear to have no interest in our market.

    Small engines - new

I'm also looking for a smaller 4-stroke engine, around 60hp but have found the same issue you all have. The only ones come within target are the 4-stroke UAV/RC engines. Just as an interesting tangent on a larger engine (136HP @120lbs ), this company looks interesting...
