    silicone vac bag for infusion

I have recently made silicone bags for some of my molds using airtech quart kits and using the flashbreaker tape in the bag then use bagging sealant to seal to mold. Has anybody used any other method to seal the silicone bag to the mold without using the tape and sealant?? I am trying to keep...

    Question for you infusion experts.

I am away from the shop for the next 10 days so when i get back i can get the specs, I used monomer to thin it way down much thinner than the infusion epoxy i have used in the past. I should have down a bleed down test on the vac, that may have been my culprit. Lesson learned do not rush and...

    Question for you infusion experts.

I did not have a problem with the distance it was the thickness, the bottom layers where dry. If i try another infusion i will use a envelope over the entire mold to rule out any vac issues. The whole thing should fit into a large surfboard vac tube bag. I love those things.

    Question for you infusion experts.

the green flow media, resin was VE which i thinned down with monomer because i suspected this problem, i did not check the cps but it was thin, I first tried to infuse on one end and pulled the entire length of the ski 73"x24"so there would be plenty of time for infusion, and i also tried to...

    Question for you infusion experts.

Recently i tried to infuse a set of hydraulic wheel skis out of carbon uni with very poor results. Fiberglass Cub

I built wings for a cub out of graphite spars.ribs compression members, carbon rods for brace wires. I did come in a bit lighter than a stock cub wing. But it is also covered in fabric like a standard wing. It passed the sand bag load tests no problem. I will set the gross fairly low just for my...

What is the ultimate bush plane?

Your right "each has its place none can do it all" Thats why i have a helio and a cub. If you got a big load the helio rules. If you are by yourself and light the cub would be the choice. The cub is also great for spotting game , you can see out each side and you are sitting center so the seat...

    Hot Rodding O 200?

I have a 0320lyc hottrodded out with all the mods comp, cam, porting crank gear, intake, ect in a super cub. It is impressive however a stock 0360lyc in a super cub same weight out performs it hands down and a 0360 with all those mods in a super cub spanks both of them hands down. The props used in...

    Hot Rodding O 200?

There is several companies in the US that sell crank gears already indexed for applications like LYCON. LYCON builds a whole bunch of the race engine like you are speaking of Give Ken a call @ 559-651-1070. When you get into the race side of things reliability goes way down. I have a geared...

It does very well and sure out performs the old 160 hp 0320 i used to...

    fiberglass landing gear legs

It would be nice to see somebody successfully build some bush worthy composite gear legs. Helio tried and failed. SUre would be nice to have some lighter weight gear on the cub but still strong. Not sure if it is possible.

    Staggerd seats in a Cub

Sounds interesting, do you plan to make allowances for a 0360?? I am a big fan of the conical mount 0360 in a cub. I have standard fuselages and with a cargo pod a can get a whole moose in the thing. just got done flying for a outfitter hauling very heavy loads over the mountains and you just...

    carbon/wood spar considerations

on the fixed style slat i have made mold to build graphite slats which are a top skin, bottom and left and right ribs with attach fitting built into the rib. and a mounting design to fit a ribblett 66 style wing which can be taken off in minutes using nut plates in the LE of the wing. That will...

    carbon/wood spar considerations

With full flaps down on a helio and then the slats come out there is a bunch of drag and without power the helio sinks like a rock. In that full flap slats out power is needed, a bunch. You may look at backcountry cub they have a slat used on a usa35 b foil that is fixed except it tilts or...
