    Tail Draggers

I am feeling kinda guilty in that since I started this thread and I haven't been around for a couple of months now I am way behind on replies to the good golks who have offered advice and suggestions. Let me be so bold as to bring you all up to date. I did find a tailwheel instructor and...

    small portable plane?

Before you do anything, check out the MiniMax 103. Mine draws nothing but positive comments everywhere I go _ even from long time A&Ps. Check their website at www.isonaircraft.com. Cheers, Jerry

    Tail Draggers

Lucky Dog! That is one beautiful airpoane. The lady about three hangers down has one that she has lavished untold wealth upon...thing looks like a Rolls Royce! Have to 'snuggle up' to her to see if she'll let me fly it someday....:gig:

    Tail Draggers

I definately agree. You learn to drive a J3 smoothly and anything else is a 'piece of cake'. Kinda like learning to drive a stickshift first and then moving to an automatic transmission...only thing you got to re-learn is to not use the clutch:) and the rest of it is a no brainer... The Wx...

    Motion Sickness

Jake - I hate to be the one to tell you this but .... there ain't no easy solution ... you just gotta swallow it (pun intended). After a while it won't bother you at all.....

Anyone else make it to Arlington?

Just got back here to read your reply. I spent 20+ years in the Army (retired in 75) so I think you are making a good choice by going back in. I think you will find life as a WO a bit different than as an EM - AND - you'll be flying --- What could be better???

Anyone else make it to Arlington?

'Scuse me but, didn't you just leave the army? Or is my Alzheimers getting worse?:)

    Tail Draggers

Thanks for your input. And I did take everyone's advice and got some time with an instructor (finally found one in the area after months of looking). We flew last Tuesday and I'm glad he was in the back seat of the Champ! On the first run, I was doing 'S' turns down the runway and just as I...

    Wood building concerns

I'll risk being disagreed with here but - I think you'll find wood is, when compared to other materials, very forgiving. A mite too long or too wide - just sand it to the correct dimension. Hole drilled in the wrong place ? Cut a dowell, glue it in and redrill the hole. How do you hold it...

Sun & Fun - How Was It??

I didn't go myself, either, but a report at the Mason-Dixon Sports Flyers Club indicated that it was not very well attended this year - by either vendors or airplane owners. The Ultralight section, it was reported, was nearly a 'ghost town' and everything was expensive (a bottle of water going...

Taildraggers First, I want to thank you for your EMail directing me to your reply on this board. It turns out that I have missed a number of replies. Don't know how that happened, 'cause I usually visit here daily, but maybe the "Read new messages" button doesn't pick them all up. Yep it...

    I Love my airplanes

Hi Jake - I thought I saw a reference to service life in one of your previous posts. You are, aparently, leaving the Army soon... What branch if I may be so bold to ask? I am retired Sig Corps myself some 26 years now....shocking  - I've been retired longer than I was active....:(

    Can composites replace 1/16" ply...?

Please do! This sounds like a valuable experiment and your results should be of interest to a good many.....

    Windwagon

At $3000 this is a 'steal". Another couple of thousand for an engine and someone will have a really nice airplane!
