How many of you guys fly RC Planes too?

Jeff, I'd totally agree that model building would help. I took Pietenpol Aircamper plans and built a 1/3rd scale model of it. It was accurate to the last nut and bolt. So essentially I did build a full scale Piet, it just fit in my work shop a little easier. ;) --Paul

How many of you guys fly RC Planes too?

Hey guys, title says it all. I'm not a homebuilder yet... mostly just doing research, but I"m an avid RC Airplane and Heli pilot. I've been flying planes for about 9 years now. I started flying glow planes, then switched to electric before they really started getting popular, now I'm...

    Airplane humor

So these old aerobatic pilot guys are sitting around the hangar one day, talking about what its like up in heaven. None are really sure what its like so they agree that the first one to go, will come back and tell the rest of them what its like. So sure enough in a few months, one of them...

    Best Glue for wood

For wooden aircraft construction what is the best glue to use? I've heared the T-88 from Systems' 3 is one of the better ones, but are there some that are better, or easier to work with? --Paul

What are you all building/dreaming of

Jake, I suppose I should also put my other possible alternatives/absolute dreams. Alternatives: Henderson Longster replica (look in the 1930's flying an gliding manuals for what one looks like) (Aeronca C-3 like) Hummelbird --Love the looks and the performance you can get on that engine...

What are you all building/dreaming of

Title says it all. What are you building and/or dreaming of building. I plan to build a Pietenpol over a several year time period. Power it with some kind of VW, or VW derivative. --Paul

    New to homebuilts

Thanks Jake, I've always liked the looks of the Minimax as well, as well as the ease of building of it....though I'll probably end up building the Piet since I've got the RC versions of them...plus it'd be great advertising for my parkflyer kits to post my build progress of the full scale Piet...

    New to homebuilts

Hi everyone, my name is Paul Susbauer, I'm a Sophmore at Gonzaga University in Washington, and I've been bitten by the homebuilt bug. Back in High school I did a lot of research on them, and selected a design...an ultralight version of the Pietenpol Aircamper, bought plans...but then decided to...

    Engine Alternatives for Pietenpol

So the Model "A" is out, mostly due to lack of money, and the desire for an easy to work on engine, with readily available parts. Really what I'm wondering is, could I run a VW 4 cylinder engine on a Pietenpol, given that it has about 50-60HP or more? Seems like you should be able to assuming it...

    Mahogany Plywood

In my research I've been doing on the Pietenpol, I've seen reference to the use of Mahogany plywood. Is this a certain AC grade ply or can I get this from a wood working supplier or similar? Please advise, thanks in advance. --Paul
