To what out-of-production aircraft would you buy the rights, if you wanted to start a 'kit-plane' company?

Not only...you have to find a skilled crew to work for you that is willing to learn and be consistent. Also have to structure business so it runs with key people missing for longevity. Many considerations.

To what out-of-production aircraft would you buy the rights, if you wanted to start a 'kit-plane' company?

Still not sure how to get the funding together to make this a reality. There is great potential on the Airplane since it is designed to be a VFR/IFR Trainer for flight schools as well as great cross country plane with two different power setups as well as possible other powerplants. It is a...

To what out-of-production aircraft would you buy the rights, if you wanted to start a 'kit-plane' company?

Yes for the most part. Working on paperwork and tooling for the manufacturing little by little. R&D airplane is finished and ready for Airworthiness to start test program but I have it on hold in case there are some Mosaic changes we need to consider. Its one thing to have the plane ready...

    Azalea Saberwing

It is currently at 900 lbs empty with a Mosaic design gross of 1500 lbs. We can make it lighter at 840 or so with a LSA gross of 1320. The difference is this particular R&D has full IFR/Autopilot and many options for transition training purposes.

    Azalea Saberwing

We built this trigear as a LSA Proof of concept and were able to meet the LSA requirements very closely. This one has a 100HP Corvair engine and flies within the specs. We have also built a SLSA Version using an Aeromomentum 117 HP engine that is ready for the R&D Certificate for getting into...

    Turbo Corvair Conversion ..........Hypothetical

CHT is certainly an issue at higher altitudes where the effectiveness of air cooling is reduced. At 18,000 feet CHT starts to spike if I try to climb more than 200 '/min due to higher angle of attack. Cowl flaps will be one of the changes I will be making. I normally dont fly this high so...

    Turbo Corvair Conversion ..........Hypothetical

No, not that I know of. Mine are simple throttle controlled and you watch the MAP. Not a problem to boost and get more horsepower than 120 but you need to keep an eye on it I havent tried max HP but am sure I could damage the engine if I didnt keep the MAP at a reasonable level. For now I...

To what out-of-production aircraft would you buy the rights, if you wanted to start a 'kit-plane' company?

We have a kit company and are looking to expand into the Mosaic SLSA market. We have a R&D plane built and working on the certification process. Looking for partner to manage/operate the manufacturing and future growth so I can stay working in the R&D part.... Just a thought.

    Azalea Saberwing

Its is in design idea phase using the techniques we use on our Saberwing. Similar in look but about 4 inches wider and 12 inches longer. Wing chord will also be a bit larger. Can be powered with an IO-360 or more. Considering Delta Diesel maybe to stay with jetA fuels. Fixed gear and...

Interested in Airplane Company?..... Azalea Aviation....

As time moves forward and more grey hair appears I am considering finding somebody that may be interested in taking part ownership/investment into Azalea Aviation that would like to see it grow beyond what we have been able to do to date. We have some future goals we would like to pursue with...
