    LIQUID PISTON rotor engine

Liquid Piston still is around and they have an engine on a go kart now. While leary about their claims, I hope they work. Even if they get close in their estimates those engines should be useful. https://player.vimeo.com/video/170502635

    Uber announcement, white paper

I have heard of a vehicle that will do what they want. I believe they are call helicopters. Could be wrong though.

    Design to attract new homebuilders

Just like in selling any product, if you can sell someone on the IDEA of your product it will sell. Bede was good with the idea part. Icon appears to be doing the same thing, only time will tell on their execution. As long as the plane is a good design for its mission, it can work. The hardest...

Bell Shaped Lift Distribution - best compromise to achive it.

I wonder how the Prandtl-D handles cross winds landings. How would you cross control it?

Importing airfoil dat files into Sketchup

Ok, got the extension install to work. Here is the original plugin I got. Found it from a RCgroups thread. Download then rename it to a .rbz file. That should let it upload in Sketchup.

Importing airfoil dat files into Sketchup

For those of you that use Sketchup for concept design or just drawing, making airfoils is a pain. I found a plugin that will draw the airfoil from a dat file but it is old and doesn't work on new versions of Sketchup. After some digging I found a way to get it to work. In Sketchup open the Ruby...

    Alternative roll control theorectial exercise

Helicopter blades are just precisely balanced airfoils that change aoa to provide more or less lift. So what if you did the same to the wing of an airplane? Early planes used wing warping but instead just change the whole aoa of the wing. Lets assume for now that the mechanical aspect of wing...

Building a Volksplane 2 as a single seater with an alternative powerplant

You might consider the Ragwing Vagabond. It can be built as a single seater or two place. Plans say width is from 18" to 43" wide, depending on preference. Plus the Ragwing designs are very similiar in design to the Minimax

    Center of Gravity range

How is the CG range calculated for a rotor? I know for small fixed wing aircraft it is usually 25-32% of the chord, however I can't any information on this. Any help is appreciated.

    Intermeshing rotor craft

That is good to know. I did kind of find what I was looking for the Bensen B-8MH. Only instead of coaxial, use intermeshing rotors. I also think if it was electric it would cool but batteries just weigh so much.

    Intermeshing rotor craft

I am trying to find a rotor craft design that is a cross between the X-2, K-MAX, and LSA requirements. This wouldn't be a true helicopter but more of a gyro that could have much closer vtol performance. Fixed pitch, powered, intermeshed rotors for lift. Standard prop and tail feathers for...
