    Legal Eagle

Hi bmcj, Just my opinion only on the Eagle with the honcho wings, but .... I think at higher speeds that the wings twisted some under aileron deflection, lessining their effectiveness. It was never dangerous, but definetely there and once used to, didn't present any real problem...

    Tip Ribs

Hi Oleg, Over the years and many, many ribs built, the routed ribs with cap strips is the best comprise of weight, cost, strength, longevity and time to fabricate. Sincerely, Doug Hart

    Legal Eagle

Hi There, Yes, the legal eagle is a good airplane. I had a modified one (with honcho wings) for a while and it was great fun. Roll control was sluggish, but overall a great, fun little airplane. It lives on over in Kansas last I heard. Sincerely, Doug Hart

    Tip Ribs

Hi Starman, I religiously use the Superflite process. I've used it for many years and its very consistant and easy to work with. Plus I recieve a very good manufacture discount! :-) They have a very good instruction book for around $10, well worth the money. Will save you time and...

    Tip Ribs

Hi Dana, Currently using T-88 (with lots of prep work), but looking into some of the hysol equivelants that are more tolerant (but more expensive). Sincerely, Doug Hart

    Tip Ribs

Hi Dana, The false rib support is .032 aluminum sheet bent into un-equal leg channel. 1" X 1" x 3/8". It works amazingly well but takes a little bit of time to fabricate. I am going to start using 1"x 1" x 1/16" thick 6063 angle instead. Cost and weight differences are negligible...

    Tip Ribs

Hi Mark, Yes, just 1 bend. I use a 12" radius block to make the bend. I've always used 1" x .058" 6061. I've found that 24" is the longest you can use and still get good strength as well as not having to add extra bracing to prevent warping when shrinking the fabric. I've also found the...

    You tell me???

I had a modified legal eagle for a while and it was great fun to fly. Fairly simple and pretty rugged and should be a good choice for beginner build project. Some time in a Cub, Taylorcraft, Champ or even a Luscombe are highly recommended or you will groundloop it and hurt yourself...

Hi Everyone, I am in the process of making a builders manual and builders plans for the Sweet Peas. It's currently last on the priority list, but they should be done sometime this year. Sincerely, Doug Hart

    Tip Ribs

Hi Mark, Attached is a simple wing tip that I have used with good success. The tip rib buts up against the outer compression strut (same with root rib) and the false rib support doubles to keep the ribs in line. I've also found that when applying the fabric that it's best to glue down all...

    Hart Aero be careful/ripoff

Mr Pat Nolan and Everyone, Mr Nolan ordered a ready to fly Sweet Pea ultralight Mid February of 2008 on a 24 month layaway plan. His completed aircraft is due by Mid March, 2010. Mr Nolan did payoff his layaway early, but our production has not been able to accomodate early delivery...

    New Belite

Just my 2 cents but this seems opposite of what needs to happen right now. I'm doing my best to lower prices because of the economy and this just doesn't make any sense to me. I'm sure most of all of you will agree that Ultralight owners/pilots aren't in that price range, at all. Why...

    Zipster plans review

Hi bmcj, You are absolutely correct in my reasoning to sell the rights. I'm quite flattered by the "noble" comment, was un-expected and not necessary, but thank you anyways! Simply trying to do the right thing and help someone serious start a good business. I have turned down a few...

    Zipster plans review

Hi Jeff and everyone, Amy is my wife and helps out with ads and such. We're looking to pass on the design in whole to someone that can provide better support than I can currently provide. I am VERY busy with my existing designs and simply do not have the time, shop space or manpower to...

    Zipster plans review

Fly Boy BC, While Mr Fisher did write the original manual, I have added to and revised it. I'm curious as to how you would come to your statement as you do not have a registered set of plans or manual??? Sincerely, Doug Hart

Ply ribs and spruce cap jig

Hi Paul, I ran into the same problem not long ago. I tried a several different techniques/ways and ended up making up 1 shipset worth of seperate rib glue jigs. I originally had all rib jigs on 1 sheet of plywood, but have since cut the full sheet down to seperate jigs. Individual rib...
