STEAM instead of gas or electric. WHY NOT?

Just my personal opinion, but I will not steam an airplane. I prefer to just let em wrinkle.

ok, as someone who knows next to nothing is $10K a good price for these items? And are they truly droppable? Not trying to buy, just curious about the details.

Two quick questions. 1. I see a lot of people post "AFAIK". What does that mean? And B. Can someone post a link for finding these pods/drop tanks? Thanks and sorry for threadjacking the OP.

    Design ideas wanted

I just got the plans for a Mini-Max 1030F Ultralight. I would like to hear of any known paint and finished designs that closely resemble WW1 or WW2 aircraft for this airframe. Feel free to post links or pics. Or just a description of really good looking aircraft. DeviKidd

What percent of ultralights are overweight?

So what exactly is it you are trying to build? Maybe you could diet the aircraft. If there are no other options anywhere, and this is the one to be used, then look into the SLA certification for yourself.

    How to release a mold?!

Nope, not an "AL". Was in the NAVY. Had to learn to polish boots. They still do that in the military even today.

    How to release a mold?!

Care to hear a weird theory? When learning to shine boots, (boot polish is made of wax), the best results were achieved when I applied it by bare hand. I was told the combination of the fingerprints, and the oils in human skin worked together to blend the surface of the wax or polish so that...

Alaskan Ultralgiht Plan... is it possible???

Just my opinion. I think the build is possible, but expect to bust the budget PDQ. (Pretty **** Quick) I am looking into ultralight part 103 for the same type of scenario. Please post whatever you find out.

    FAR Part 103 FUEL

OK, this may be in another thread, and if so, please include a link to it. This is for Ultralight in the US. An Ultralight is restricted to 5 gallons us of fuel. An auxillary tank is not acceptable. What about just extra fuel as luggage? Could I carry an extra 5 gals. that is not connected to...

Discussion: Conceptual Design of an "Inexpensive" Single-Seat Motorglider

I would like to say "GOOD. Go for it." and Thank you Topaz for putting yourself on the line. I am looking to design my own aircraft. I am still in the Look See phase of design. (Having a looksee to see if I can even get in the air.) Seeing the design process from this end instead of just...

    Is electric propulsion worth it?

What I was considering was using a hybrid system. All drive and thrust performed by electric motor. The Electricity for the motors being made by the much smaller ICE. Since the ICE only has to produce electricity, rather than all the work of driving the aircraft, I think it could be lots smaller...

Reintroduction from Texarkana Texas and Arkansas

Hello to all on HBA. I am looking to design and build aircraft for my personal use. I live in Texarkana. Any HBA members in the area, feel free to PM me for a meet and greet arrangement. I have a working budget to build on, so cost effective building will be of importance. And the only thing...

    Asymmetric Props

sounds like a UAV wep or cam platform. Take off system, then payload delivery and return. You might look into some of the Helicopter RC designs and parts. Lots of Coaxials, and separate controller functions off the shelf. (due to multiple props) and might already have the measure devices and...

    Gelcoat pinholes problem.

might be off mark, but I had a similar problem with some craft epoxy. trapped air sealed into the mix when it sets up. found the answer was use slow hardening formula and a vibrator to work the air bubbles out. the slight vibrations cause slight movements in the media and the air is allowed to...
