    Dormoy Bathtub Wings Thought Experiment

Interesting info on the spar issue. I didn't know that. Do you recall the specs for the spar material?

    Dormoy Bathtub Wings Thought Experiment

Great input guys! I, too, have been thinking center section and a 2 piece wing...hence my reference to the Hi-Max. I am tempted to start building the fuselage and then figure the wing out as I go along. I almost wish this design didn't have such a hold on me. If I were just a little smarter, I'd...

    Dormoy Bathtub Wings Thought Experiment

I've looked at the Legal Eagle and really like it. I haven't read anywhere, though, that it has easily detachable wings. Does it? I need it to be able to be transportable.

    Dormoy Bathtub Wings Thought Experiment

I have had the Kimbrel plans for the Bathtub for 25 plus years and after having considered many designs to build, my heart goes back to this one. I am now retired and have some time, resources and a very understanding wife...most of the elements necessary for a successful build, I think. My...

    What Happened To...Le Pelican

Without reading all 12 pages of content in this thread, I'll throw this out there. There is a company that says they sell Le pelican plans. http://buildandfly.shop/shop/plans-manuals/le-pelican/ Anyone have any dealings with them?

    DePischoff Avoinette design and build

That may not be a bad idea. I like it. The Pouchel designs have been on my short list for quite some time. Simple and relatively inexpensive. I am even considering square aluminum tubing on the Avionette ala the Pouchel design.

    DePischoff Avoinette design and build

Actually, I read through that entire thread the other day and that helped get me thinking about the Avionette. I, too, have thought about roll over protection, but have no idea how that could be addressed without ruining the lines of plane. I agree, the way the wings detach is really neat and...

    DePischoff Avoinette design and build

That is so cool! Wish my German was better! Any little details are helpful and appreciated!

    DePischoff Avoinette design and build

Looks like that to me. There are other shots of the plane that might show it a bit better, also.

    De Pischoff Avonette x 3

I have started a new thread in the technical discussion area regarding the design and building of a semi-replica Avionette. Any input would be appreciated!

    DePischoff Avoinette design and build

I agree with all the above enthusiastically and have thought much the same. I am thinking of square aluminum frame like the Pouchel designs. The pictures that I have seen of the replica in a New York museum has the pilot sitting on a seat much like a tractor seat. As has been suggested on the...

    DePischoff Avoinette design and build

As I mentioned in another thread in the "Classics" section, I am quite obsessed with this aircraft. I have been meaning to build a Dormoy/Kimbrel Bathtub for years and have the plans, but building a 28' wing in the space I have is not feasible. However, the Avionette pushes all my buttons and is...

    De Pischoff Avonette x 3

    You got that right!

    De Pischoff Avonette x 3

I have about 6-7 photos of the one in New York. There is some good information in those, but I would really like to understand the wheel attachment and more detail of what lies beneath the sheet metal. The fuselage is quite different from the original in that there is much more wire bracing and...

    De Pischoff Avonette x 3

I understand that there is a replica of the Avonette in a museum in New York. I am clear in Utah and getting there to take a look is not possible, at the moment. I wonder if someone on this board who might live nearby could go there and take a bunch of detailed shots, especially the inside of...

    De Pischoff Avonette x 3

I have always been interested in aircraft in the "other" catagory. I have plans to the Kimbrel Bathtub, for example, but I just can't build that one piece wing in my space. I am attracted to the Flying Fleas as well, but this Avonette is absolutely the coolest bird I have ever seen. I wish I...

    Between-the-war aircraft replicas

Gloster Gladiator would be my choice. Best looking biplane ever made, in my opinion.

    De Pischoff Avonette x 3

I am slightly obsessed by this aircraft. I so wish there were plans out there to build it. Imagine showing up at an airshow with that!

    SD-1: Kinda neat

I like your way of thinking. Hmmmm indeed!
