Crashes in the News - Thread

Carmarthen in Wales has a large flood plain directly adjacent to the town. Cattle graze it in summer. It reliably floods every single winter. Yet, property developers apply to build on it every year.

    What might cause low EGT?

For the egt to be that far out, you'd have noticed the engine not running smoothly. Sensor is likely shorted close to exhaust. Try swapping them and see if the bad cylinder moves.

Not-so-solid massive core wings: Lightening the core foam

Determine the loads the foam needs to carry. Then you can work out how much foam you need where. Airloads can be ballparked from <=2016 part 23.

    Vaporware

Hmmm. The problem with glider training is I'd need to join a club first. That's over $1000.

Where to Put the Static Port?

There will be neutral spots. The fun is finding one that doesn't move with AOA and/or speed. That is likely why velocity species 3 holes each side. They average out 3 moving points to get a better one than can be found for a single spot.

    Vaporware

As an alien, there are additional legal hoops to jump through before I can take a PPL lesson. I lack enough pieces of paper from the US government for them. I don't even currently have a US driving license. But that is nothing to do with the TSA.

    Vaporware

I'm 6'6" and don't have a problem working within 103. Changing 103 is very unlikely to please us. There is no way it will be open as it is now. The FAA have also said as much, too. With the upcoming 'Heavy Sport' reg changes, there is perhaps grounds to ask for something between 103 and the...

Crashes in the News - Thread

The U.S. Attorney noted in the press release that Hernandez was taken into custody during National Drone Safety Awareness Week. Only a year? I expect that will be increased along with the number of eejits doing stuff like this. It's not legal to fly a drone inside my city without jumping...

Another speculative thread - adding forward sweep to solve CG problems

If you stall the roots first as they will tend to with forward sweep, there will be some pitch up. Others have already mentioned torsional effects washing the tips in under high g. The structural problem can be designed around with a suitable shear centre of the wing.

Why battery-powered aircraft will never have significant range

Unfortunately, not everyone has him on ignore. So somebody will always bite. Anyone remember that other Finnish nutjob who kept spamming threads about his pedal powered airliners?
