    Did the test today with a magnet. It does stick lightly to the inner surface of the cylinder. But this is normal as Nikasil coating contains Nickel, which is a magnetic metal (as steel). I ckecked on ROTAX 912 cylinder (also aluminum Nikasil cylinder) and the magnet stick to the inner surface...

    No I didn't make the test with the magnet... but given the weight, it's clearly aluminum, not steel !

    * its 100% aluminum * each cylinder weight around 1kg * all dimensions seem OK so far * visual inspection of Nikasil coating does not show any flaws (as far as I can see) So far so good !

    QSC confirmed me they were thin wall cylinders... Weight is an important point for my VW engine project and there seem to be 12lbs difference between steel and aluminum cylinders. That's quite big when it's on the nose side of the aircraft !!
