    Lost Operating Limitations

Talked to the FAA MIDO guy. He is supposed to get back to me about if I need to use that AWC website.

I should clarify both aircraft are amateur built

    Data plate mounting.

My A&P says I need to mount my data plate outside the aircraft. Both planes have gone their whole life (20+ and 35+ Years) with the plates inside the cockpit viewable from outside. I know what the Regs say and have seen other planes with same mounting. How can this be? How did they get Special...

Will my local FSDO have it or where it was originally issued?

    Lost Operating Limitations

I did something incredibly stupid. While doing my owner assisted condition inspection on my Pitts I pulled out the operating limitations to review and verify. Well I put them on my desk and started cleaning up for the night. I put a pile of papers on my desk to be thrown out. Guess what went...

    Once again with the FAA...

Because I didn’t want to be restricted to a 10 mile radius during the best part of the year for cross country soaring. In addition, flying those hours off would require ideal weather to stay up, or many tows to higher altitude. Not to mention the stars aligning to provide these conditions on...

    Once again with the FAA...

HA! Sounds like what I went through to get my LODA last year. Local FSDO had no clue what I was talking about. That took a month. Someone clued me in to look elsewhere. Went through another one and had it in less than a week. Bought a Canadian amateur built sailplane. Had over 1000 hrs of...

Specs for a new motorglider design

A few folks have converted HP-18s into self launch. There is a jet powered one out there.

Specs for a new motorglider design

You need to decide if you want a motor glider or a cruiser. If it has a worthy glide ratio say above 38:1 you’re not going to see a 200mph cruise with an engine light enough to make it worthwhile.

Low cost scales for weighing aircraft

I am glad I hung on to my race car scales when I got out of racing. You can find a good used set for under $600. They work great, do all the calculations for you, and last forever if you treat them right. Mine are 15 years old and still on the money.

My Cassutt came with a home designed system on the O-200. Works great!
