    A challenge to you all

Here in France the best single-seat "ulm" ,the Luciole (M. Colomban) uses the B+S Vanguard 23hp . It weighs 100kg empty and has an excellent performance (200km/h). to get a reasonable performance and take-off , weight is the priority, so the construction is not for beginners. Unfortunately it...

    M. Colomban plans.

I am building M. Colomban's Luciole and the plans are still available from him.Your list of "no longer available" gives the impression that all of his plans are unavailable. His work is extremely detailed and researched, if not for the absolute beginner.

    Foam Ultralight

Hi, thanks for the birthday wishes! I am in France the country of homebuilt planes par excellence. In our club hangar there are several - one built from photographs and no plans and does acrobatics. and one that doesn't get off the ground ( needs more power). I have photos that I took at the big...

    what motor - what plane?!

Spacek and I did not get- on see my post on Plywood and the SD1. True (love or hate), I am still hoping... One" love" for the JVC 360 is a start, although the writer, Joe Hockman, does not say why he had to buy spare parts.

    what motor - what plane?!

Any VernerJVC 360 owners please? Obviously we need impartial reviews.Unfortunately few people are in the position to buy and test a motor no matter how convincing the theoretical arguments. Any guinea pigs out there? I am seriously looking because I have an inspiring single-seat powered...

    what motor - what plane?!

Cant remember , sorry- will look it up.

    what motor - what plane?!

I read a owners review of a Verner motor that could not have been more negative. I am preparing a Band S Vanguard for my Luciole. M. Colomban puts the carb under the motor because careful tests showed a gain of 2hp with the longer tubes - the down side is occasional recondensing of fuel...

    what motor - what plane?!

I have asked Parazoom about destroying a motor on test and they did in the beginning (6 years ago) . None since and no TBO because "there are no pilots with problems".
  9. P

    what motor - what plane?!

I will ask Parazoom if they have tested a motor to destruction and what the TBO is.

    what motor - what plane?!

That's a lot of if's... The way I fly I use full power very little and 75% not much - assuming the motor is suitable for the plane and has a safe margin of power.( So this motor may suit me, and the particular plane I have in mind...) We need the field experience now . I wonder how long they...

    what motor - what plane?!

So this then IS the Parazoom " secret??

    what motor - what plane?!

Do I understand that Parazoom has worked out by putting a reducer it can give 34hp, running at higher rev's than the makers intended . And at what cost?

    what motor - what plane?!

Thanks. In theory it should give the power . I have to find someone flying with it , and for a good number of hours. Obviously I need to know the negative side.

    what motor - what plane?!

Mmmm.. We exchanged several emails in fact and Mr Hicken probably still thinks I was trying to steal his innovations - his assumption was I was dishonest - not pleasant. He claimed they put in €2000 in each motor and this after 7 years development. So the motor is worth €4000 or it is not...

    what motor - what plane?!

I contacted the Parazoom makers to ask( innocently) how they achieved 34hp from a Vanguard. Wow , you would think i had asked them for a blueprint!! i had forgotten how secretive and defensive they are in that part of the world. They would not even tell me the broad principle used to increase...

    what motor - what plane?!

The Parazoom B and S looks very interesting. I am following it up. I wonder how they get 34hp out of a Vanguard ?

    Plywood and the Spacek SD1

I have been building a Luciole myself now for 5months and will post photos to show the difference in the two plywoods.

    what motor - what plane?!

Wow , this an active site - thanks guys! I have a prepared B and S for my Luciole . I am glad to hear it is going to be very quiet. However it is rated at only 23hp which may be too little for the Mini Bulle ( which weighs 40kgs more than the Luciole). I am still hoping to find someone who has...

    what motor - what plane?!

Just for a comparison: I own and fly a Super Guepard ( Aeroservices) made close by. This a two seater high-wing muti-axe ULM, with a Rotax 912 100hp. It is fabulous ! and it suits me perfectly .It can do 200 plus km/hr but I fly (a lot) slowly around the country here and often use thermals on...
