    Airplane plans inventory

Is it true that actual plans for the Easy Riser don’t really exist? Just Icarus hang glider plans and assembly notes for the Easy Riser as it was only sold as a kit?

    ULF-1 finished summer 2018!

Fantastic! As a free flight paraglider pilot your ULF 1 is very appealing. Able to fly slow and turn tight in the lightest lift but also able to range out. All while comfortably enclosed and, most importantly, flying with a stick as aircraft were meant to be flown! Congratulations! May you...

Building an Ultralight with my Son

I agree with the above post. Skip all the vitriol and just do it. If you’re confident in your friends welding ability then the Legal Eagle XL is a great one for larger pilots. The minimax would be an excellent choice as well. I’ve dreamed and researched this topic for years and have finally...

    Chilton DW1 plans?

John, what a beautiful plane, very nicely done! If only you were closer so I could have a look... Best of luck with the sale!

    Chilton DW1 plans?

Had the thought to look at the specs of the Mikron engine. The Aeromomentum weighs roughly the same but has a higher output. 2.6gph as well!

    Chilton DW1 plans?

Simflyer, Yes, when I tried the site on my laptop it opened just fine. It seems it didn’t like my iPhone. As for engines, I’m not sure. I just read a bit about the Aeromomentum engines, their 85hp 3 cylinder sounds promising. Not sure if it’s too heavy at 138lbs but having a FADEC is...

    Chilton DW1 plans?

Yes, I’ve looked at the “plans for everything” site but it continues to crash. I’d much prefer to go the accepted route of acquiring plans. It’s not that I really have the funds to throw around but I’d consider an approved plans set for this beautiful, classic plane a very worthwhile purchase...

    Chilton DW1 plans?

Hello all..., I’ve been lurking on many aviation forums for years now and have just stumbled across the few here that show the construction of the Chilton. I can’t believe I wasn’t aware that you guys are still building them! I’ve been in love with this little bird since I saw a picture of one...

    Looking for airfoil info...

After plotting a Clark Y from airfoiltools, it's almost an exact match for the foil in the Texas Parasol plans. Looks like I'll stick to the plans...:^)

Both great suggestions...! Just printed a Clark y to size...

    Looking for airfoil info...

Hello all, I'm looking to build a simple, slow ultralight probably based on the Texas parasol. I like the idea of aluminum construction with dacron covering. Also considering the poorboy... I drew the airfoil in the Texas parasol plans to full scale and then compared it to a rib from a...

    Oracal

I suppose I should clarify... Maybe this is a way to get a light weight covering for a reasonable price. Oratex would be lighter but I can't afford the cost. Could I use just enough poly coats to seal the 1.8 oz Dacron and have the lightest (if not the most attractive) finish? Or could I use a...

    Oracal

So I'm wondering if this might be the way to go to achieve the least weight in covering. Is the oracal applied over the Dacron without any sort of sealer? I've looked but haven't found any info on the necessary steps used to cover with this stuff. It DOES look nice...

    $5,500 aircraft?

Not having the aft portion of the fuselage covered makes less of a difference than one might believe when it comes to slipping the aircraft. Most of the drag comes from the adverse yaw created by having the rudder and ailerons working against each other.

Simple build tricycle landing gear ultralight

I have the RW8/RW11 plans and they show both arrangements. In fact, the gear is constructed in such a way that it can be reversed without too much trouble. The fuse has the proper reinforcement added during construction so one can go back and forth. I'm currently working on a Minimax but I'm...
