    I made beading dies of phenolic sheet, .188 thick and glued them to a plywood. The markings on the bottom panel is for aligment with the rib and just put them in the press.

    If you have something to move, move forward in front of of pilot as far as you can. If you dont, you can put the ballast on the firewall if MTOW allows. A lot easier than moving the engine. Cheers

    Traveler, you say that your airplane nose heavy? If so, you should do the opposite, put the engine closer to firewall, or leave it where it is. Did you calculated that moving pilot back exeeding rearward CG limit?

    Well, Fritz asked for "homebuilder rule of thumb" for parts that are non structural. Do you think the method with the torch would not be good for such use?

    Fritz, I think the easiest method for anealing is using a temperature indicator crayons and torch. These crayons make marks that melt within 1% of their rated temperature. As for quenching, the rate of cooling is not so important altough it is safer to cool quickly. I believe that would be...

    Larry, Ultracruiser is slightly larger than Hummelbird so it can accommodate larger pilot (and I am quite heavy:ermm:)
