Well color me surprised my predictions were wrong. Looks like Icon's first delivery will be at Oshkosh. I figured they were a year away from a delivery. Looks like we have another aircraft in the market. ICON given green light to begin deliveries

What has happened to the sea era ampibious plane ??

Forgot to to mention about the what happened to seaplanes thing. I agree they seem neat and amazing. My grandfather will talk for hours about how much he loved his supercub on floats when he was in his 30's. How many people do you know now a days that could afford to have an amphib just for...

What has happened to the sea era ampibious plane ??

To add some to this topic. I believe for the past at leas 3 years when I ask the ICON guys at Oshkosh they always say they will be delivering aircraft to customers next year. My guess is in about a year if they don't go under they will finally deliver a customer aircraft. From what I've herd...

Anyone know the build time requirement and material cost for a CH-750 scratch build?

Re: Anyone know the build time requirement and material cost for a CH-750 scratch bui Always more than you planned for, for both time and money. It really depends on how much care you put in your work, how much help you get, what you put in for an engine, what you put in for avionics the list...

P85 completes Phase I flight testing with some questions

Thanks to all the guys that gave me on subject information. It looks like the intent of the aircraft so far is to look sweet and be different all while being close to the same speed as most aircraft you would compare it to all while being less complex. For my original questions number 1 it...

P85 completes Phase I flight testing with some questions

I apologize if you took the post as that way Jeffd. I am getting very interested in new aircraft designs and reasoning behind them. After seeing what appeared to be main amazing aircraft designs fail after a few years I am curiously searching as to why many of them fail. I made the post as I...

P85 completes Phase I flight testing with some questions

The Cirrus and Cessna I threw in there to add some production aircraft along with homebuilts in the similar speed category. They are obviously way outside everything else in price. It's basically fast fixed gear options. Also is the F1 rocket really that much more than an RV-8? I know if you...

P85 completes Phase I flight testing with some questions

Very interesting I didn't realized it was running a fixed pitch prop. So I'm starting to see a niche for this aircraft that very much is viable. That is go almost just as fast for a much lower price. I knew you guys would have great info for me.

P85 completes Phase I flight testing with some questions

P85 completes Phase I flight testing I saw this article this morning and looked into it deeper than I probably should. I'm going to start with this. This airplane looks cool. I also think the Radial Rocket looks cool. But then I consider the "intent" of the aircraft and it doesn't seem that...

    Outboard as an aircraft engine?

I don't know if you guys found this yet but apparently a guy is working on putting a 230 hp Mercury Outboard in his Acro Sport. Mercury Outboard Conversion for an Aircraft, Part 2 | EAA AirVenture Oshkosh I find this interesting, because as we know aircraft engines cost an arm and a leg. So do...

Airfoil selection and Wing in ground effect

Before you start designing your build you have a few things you need to figure out first. First, what are the regulations involving a WIG vehicle? Speed limitations, size limitations, altitude limitations, location limitations, etc. That will narrow down your mission some. Next, figure out...

    Learning Composites

i was aware of becomming alergic, but unaware of what level completely takes away that worry. Is gloves and good ventilation considerd fine, or should a dust mask or respirator be considered as well for more than just sanding? I suppose basic safety should also be in intro to learning composites

    Learning Composites

I was wondering what everyone would suggest for learning composite aircraft construction? For the first level I suggest a typical boat/canoe/vehicle fiberglass repair kit on something damaged. If you get good results doing that move to something a little more complex. I did this (fixed a...

    Jared from northern Wisconsin

I can very happily say I've been to Oshkosh every yeast since 98. I do have a mission picked out and a few options in mind the problem is I narrowed my mission down so much I don't know if any aircraft qualify haha. I could post that stuff here or make a new post in not sure the exact etiquette...
